Designing keychains & magnets

Hi

I've been searching for an answer to my following problem. Hope you can tell me what I may be missing                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Whenever I attempt to design a magnet or a keychain the tiny preview in the lower right shows a gray line indicating to me that the area isn't covered by the design, yet when  I click the preview to get the actual picture of how it will look it looks fine

Months ago I ordered a magnet that I designed and it looked fine on the large preview but when printed there were uncovered areas.

Also, I know I've used the Zazzle  Product/Design List to check the dimensions of various products before but I am not finding it this time.

Can you kindly direct me to that?

Thank you!

Hi I followed your very clear instructions using a custom size 5000x5000 design The design is in the safe area & the background extended to the red line but the small preview in the lower right still shows a gray area at the bottom however the large preview of how it would look seems fine    This Keychain Capture.JPGThis Zazz Keychain Test Capture.JPG

Keychains and magnets require a "bleed" - which means that the image you use must be larger than the printed size of the item, in order to ensure that when it is cut out that the image covers the entire item, given that the printing and cutting are not expected to be millimeter precise.
There are guidelines with the design tool - make sure you have them turned on - the red line is where your image or background should extend to, the blue line is where the actual dimensions of the item are expected to be. The green dotted line is the "safe" area, in which all important elements that must appear on the item uncropped should be placed. You can click on help to get an explanation of this too.Screenshot 2024-01-08 at 6.16.02 AM.png

Is this the gray line that you're referring to?

If so, what you're seeing is the partially opaque white bar across the bottom of the preview box (I think it's there so those black and white dots will still be visible on tall vertical products) Anyhow, that bar is always there in the preview box, and doesn't impact the design.

Maybe it's easier to see on a design with more colors across the bottom like this one:

That gray area at the bottom isn't your design, it's a band placed there for an on-screen function. you have to click the preview box to see the whole product design.
