Grouping layers in design tool

I have searched the help section of the design tool and searched here in the forum and didn't find an answer. I am trying to group the layers for each separate train car on the paper plate. I managed to select all the layers on a couple of them and group everything. On the one engine, I had to group the wheel layers separately. I am having trouble grouping the red engine on the right. Is there a limit to the number of layers in a group? Is there a limit to the number of groups? I grouped. the layers to the passenger car on another car and pasted them in as a group but I couldn't group the red engine on a blank product. If I have to divide it into two groups that's fine. I just need to know how many layers in a group.

Marilyn, I went into your design and tried to group all layers of the red train. I did this by highlighting the first layer below the two already existing groups, and then went on choosing each next layer while keeping an eye on the 'group' icon. When I got to the eight layer the 'group' icon grayed out. So that eight layer is causing the issue of not being able to group all red train layers. Nor is it possible to hide or delete that eight layer. I could copy-paste that layer though, and then I was able to group that copy-pasted layer with the other train layers, hide it or delete it. Is it possible that the unruly layer got 'locked' somehow by accident? That would explain not being able to group it with the other red train layers. All other red train layers group just fine.

Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you for the work you did. I will look at that layer.

Thank you for also telling me how you checked it. I can use that in the future. I got the red engine grouped into two groups with one line separate. I redid the line that was causing the problem but another line became an issue. So I just did the two groups plus the line.
