Make changes to a live design

I'm quite new to Zazzle. I posted some designs - after they were live, I realised I forgot the 'Make this a Template Object' option. So when a potential customer sees my design, they see 'Edit Design' not 'Personalize'.

Is there a way to edit my design to add the 'Make this a Template Option' - or do I have to relist it as a new listing?

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks for any help 🙂

You can, but edited designs need to go through review. if it's a brand new product, without views, without marketplace standing, without prior promotion, links out in the community,  - a good reason to want to preserve it,  it's more efficient to just repost it as a new product and delete the old ones.

Thank you! So, two of them have several sales - it sounds like they'd be better to be edited and reviewed - how do I do that please? The other's I'll repost and delete the originals as you suggest.

The last I knew, not everyone has the ability to replace a product with the same one, albeit with changes. If you open the product you want to change in the design tool and make your change, then go back out, do you see something along the lines of a button that says "Replace"? If you see it, you've got what you need. If you don't see it and have only the Sell It button, then you've no choice but to choose the Sell It button, which creates a new version of your product, which you don't necessarily want to do if it's been sold previously.

@BarbaraAC
Barbara is correct, not everyone has the ability to revise/replace, including me, been here since 2008 but was not one of the ones to get it. So it may not be available, don't fret it.

What determines the lucky ones who get the Replace option? I'm guessing it's for the upper-tier sellers, like Silver and up?

I have it and I am not an "upper-tier seller" by any means. I'm just Bronze and not anywhere close to the Silver end of that window yet.

I'm the same as ColsCreations--Bronze and nowhere near Silver. It seems to have been the luck of draw.

I don’t have the Replace option, either. It’s very frustrating.

I could be totally wrong but I thought I've read in the forums that making text that wasn't already a template a template is one of the things you can't do with the Replace feature.

@ColsCreations: I'm not sure either, but you may be correct. The two times I tried to add templates where they should have been were rejected, Setting something as a template when it hadn't been would be a similar case.

I'm fairly sure I remember reading that also @ColsCreations  BUT I don't recall if it was a creative who believed  that to be true or a mod who shared it.

Originally, Zazzle had a group of designers testing the feature, and they were, I'm sure, hand-picked. That may be what you're remembering.

You can not add a new text template, when you are using the replace product tool. You will have to make a new product and add a text template, to that new product.

I posted this in another thread, that explains the replace product tool.

"Zazzle looks over all the products, before they approve or deny the changes. You can not change alot and it look like a new product, Zazzle will not approve those kind of changes. You can not add a new text template, if you didn't already have a text template, when you made the original product. You can not add a new placeholder image or any other new template, when using the replace product tool,  Zazzle will not approve those changes.

You can change a "placeholder image", but you can not change an actual design, you can change the year, you can change the size of text and an image, you can straighten images and text and fix text typos. It's small changes like that, that Zazzle will probably approve, it's not a guarantee, that Zazzle will approve all changes. If a customer is in the process of buying your product, Zazzle will not approve any changes, but you can make the changes later and submit for approval again."
