When clicking on customer's name in sales history, do we see exactly what they purchased?

I just sold a paperweight that I put in the rectangle shape. It fit beautifully. However, it appears that the customer chose to switch to the oval shape --without any adjustment whatsoever and it does not cover the entire paperweight. At least when I went to the item straight from the sales history to the product that sold, that is how it appears. What I do not know is whether or not the "mistake" that I was seeing is what the customer actually purchased. I cannot imagine they would not have noticed that the transferring of my image from the rectangle shape paperweight to the oval resulted in a needed edit to make it work. Sales have been sluggish and I hate to lose a sale, but if it looks the way I saw it , I certainly would return it. Does anyone know if what we designers see when we click on the customers name in our sales history is what they actually bought?

I know how disconcerting that is, but we don't see their customizations. Not only can we not see what they put in template fields, we can't see what changes they made when they went into the design tool. We can only hope that they did go into the design tool because otherwise it will look terrible.

Indeed, I brought this up a coupla times with designs that there is NO WAY the customer could possibly get a decent end product with the fit of the image they chose, but my idea was poo-pooed and was assured that most of these "mistakes" are not actually mistakes at all! Well, OK then *eyeroll* Bet Zazzle never sees those customers again.

Thank you chefcateringbiz for that input. I think you and I have the same worries! I wonder if they are just guessing or if they know it to be the case that they are not really mistakes at all?

I've had customers send me photos of the products they received & personalized, to show me how happy they were with the finished product. In some cases, I barely recognized my original design! lol

That's a nice confirmation. It's worrying to see a product where much would need to be done in the design tool to make it work. It's good to know that people really are doing just that.

Thank. you Marcia for sharing. How great it would be to have customers actually take time to show you with photos how happy they are with your design. Speaks well of your designs!

When I sense that a customer may have messed up their product with my designs, I call Zazzle and they have checked into it for me. They can see what the customer did, but we as the designers can't.

Thank you Sors for replying. I wonder if when you contact Zazzle and they see something really messed up in the design, do they try to contact the customer or do they just let it go forward?
