? about the forum since it Is public

Since the forum is public, can anyone who just wanders in, comes in because of a search they did, or comes because of a post that was shared with them post a link to a thread or post anywhere on the internet?

That appears to be the case. I just tested it by publishing a link to this post here from a test page on my website. I used a browser not logged in to the forum and was able to access it directly from the link on my website.

I believe the forum has always been open to public (how the spammers get in). Somewhere is a post regarding bringing back the "PRO" forums/threads in the future. These were available only to those who had reached certain levels of sales

I was thinking because we had to log in on the previous forum that it was closed.

Previous forum was closed and not viewable by public. This issue came up when a lot of us were wondering why anyone was bothering to post to the show me forums. At one time they had been public and people would land on products that way, but then the old forum was completely closed to the public. Now, the forums are open and sometimes when an internet user is searching on google, they will land on a forum post.  I have tested with products I have posted to the show me forum.

Hmmm.  Seems like the forums should only be open to designers since issues/problems sometimes get posted here.  Why air the "dirty laundry"?  😬
