Adding Names to Place Cards

Re:  Does anyone have customers asking them for a "customizable" name template for your place cards?  And then after creating it for them, ask you why there's not a csv upload or something to add all their names at once to the place cards.  It's frustrating that some brides-to-be are not willing to hand write their own if they don't have to anymore, I guess.  Or am I the only one thinking like this?

What has been your solution?

I feel like this has been requested about a million times. Here's my most recent plea: Please Consider Offering Place & Escort Cards with... - Zazzle

The only two solutions I've come up with are:

1) Use a table number card like this: Burgundy & Gold Wedding DIY Fold Place Card | Zazzle works, but they have to customize each separately AND fold them themselves.

2) Use a design with a white background and enough space above the artwork for them to stick a standard mailing label which they can print at home: Elegant Red Rose Blank DIY Print Wedding Place Card | Zazzle

Only other thing I can think of is using die-cut stickers with a clear background to do something similar to the above - they'd still have to customize them separately though.

Seems like in this day and age this shouldn't be such a big ask - maybe it's just not profitable enough for Zazzle to find a way to make it work. I suspect that even if they did do it, it wouldn't be for all of us, it would probably work more like the envelope addressing does - which is a shame because part of what brides want is to be able to coordinate the design with the rest of the day-of-event stationery & signage. My feeling is (and I have no data to back this up) that if we could offer this, we'd sell not only more place cards, but more coordinating menus, napkins, table decor, signs, seating charts, and other matching stuff.

Cat, thank you!  😊  Gorgeous cards too, btw.  This was my first attempt at helping a customer, yet they only bought one.  https://www.zazzle.com/baseball_theme_wedding_customizable_place_cards-256678568020412040 , and most recently this one which didn't sell at all... https://www.zazzle.com/baseball_theme_wedding_with_guest_name_place_card-256552793821544058  What they did was buy the table number card, like you said.

You mean something similar to creating a mailing list in MS Word, where the customer provides a list of names and they are automatically generated during the printing process?

Exactly!

Yes.  Actually, Cat had asked this ahead of me and it is exactly what I've been asked about before.  And, the thoughts have crossed my mind on the addressed envelopes.  Which may seem like the tech part is there, idk for sure though, I agree with Cat in that it could sell more.
And for some reason, in my mind, I keep going back to the adults who grew up as children and were not taught cursive writing.  For them I suppose, they're expecting the technology to be there for them.  What a shame that it's not here.
