Hey everyone! I’m still fairly new and trying to build a solid strategy.
Do you think it’s better to:
A) Upload one strong design and manually transfer it to multiple products myself?
OR
B) Just post the design on one product (like a greeting card or mug) and rely on the customer to use the “Transfer this design” option if they want it on something else?
My concern is that some customers might not bother transferring it themselves — and that could mean losing a potential sale.
I’d really appreciate hearing what’s worked for you in terms of getting more views or sales. Thanks in advance! 🙏

Don't expect your customers to do this kind of transfer.
Some know how to do it very well, and others only see the defects once the product is printed and delivered and ask for a refund because there is a defect.
Others don't know how to do it because they are not computer savvy, so you'll lose customers.
And even when you do the transfer yourself on other items, you realize that the design doesn't look good, because the image is too enlarged and is no longer of good quality, for example.
So you must do transfer yourself, and it's a lot of work ! This is one of the big drawbacks of Zazzle, compared to other POD platforms where the transfer is much easier and faster.

Thanks a lot for your helpful reply!
I totally agree — we really can’t rely on customers to do the transfer themselves.
Just one quick question if you don’t mind:
👉 Is there a recommended or maximum number of products to transfer a design to?
I mean, is it okay to apply the same design to 15–20 products if it fits well, or is that too much?

You have to keep a certain logic in the products. Take the example of wedding collections: an invitation, an RSVP card, envelopes, plates, balloons, posters. Put yourself in the customer's shoes, what would you like to have as a product for a birthday, a wedding, back to school, a small business event ... and keep a limit to the number of items for the same design, no need to make more than 10 . and see what sells well, repeat the operation with other designs and allways make a collection . Afterwards, you can add products that you consider essential for your collection. Another clue: when a client transfers a design to another product that you haven't necessarily thought of.

I do not use the transfer option much at all. My goal here is not quantity. However, when I have a sale, and see that my customer transferred my image in some way, I will then immediately make the product they tried to make and I post it. My theory is that if one person wanted my vertical image on a horizontal card, others would also want the same.
Come on over to the dark side.

I wouldn’t make any additional designs until the first design sells. You need to see proof of concept before you put in the hours to make more. Otherwise, you could just be wasting your time.
