Seems fun and easy. Worth a try. There are other forum posts with tips how to post on Bendable if you want full commission.

I am joining the bandwagon and trying out Benable. I see many possibilities with it. To sign up, you need an invitation, so I am sharing my invite link if you would like to join:  https://benable.com/i/YVVNM

Shoot. I thought I'd posted my invite link, but it appears I didn't. Never too late: https://benable.com/i/PD7ME What I really want is to have Walmart unlocked. All I've gotten so far is Sephora, which is many miles away from my alley.

What I actually came here for was to ask if anyone knows if random followers get anything out of it. If they have lists for things that interest me, I follow them back, but I don't reciprocate otherwise. Is there any use for all the following and being followed? Does it get you points with Benable? Isn't that more a social media ploy?

Colorwash's Home

As far as I know, the only benefit for having lots of followers is that they get an alert when you create a new list, or update an old list. So potentially more traffic for you if they followed you and liked your stuff.

I've wondered about that also...does Benable give you anything for having followers and following? Haven't really had time to do much more with it. I have noticed that I sure get lots of followers who make lists of beauty products. I'm kinda past all that at my age...lol...like Popeye used to say, I yam what I yam!

Hi Barbara, I just had my first commission ,  don't laugh $1.65 .After that more lists of companies were released! Don't know about the following others thing but it could have an effect by people looking at your own profile!

@Silvara  I'm not sure it creates much traffic that Benable might find honorable since followers aren't necessarily anything more than people looking to be followed. Benable probably already knows this. Organic traffic from the outside probably has more value. Well, it does for me, anyway.

@Westerngirl2  Indeed, all the "beauty" products move me not at all. I haven't worn a speck of makeup since the last funeral I went to some years ago, which thankfully wasn't mine.

I think I wore a little fingernail polish when I was about 4 years old. Since then, nadda! Who can be bothered?

I also do Postcrossing!

I'm right there with ya. SInce I live a fairly isolated mountain life, I figure my dogs, cats, horses, and the occasional visiting moose or elk or mountain lion isn't really interested, anyway. I look at some of the pics on the internet now and think....THAT ain't real. 😄 I don't think I could sit through the Barbie movie.

Anyway, a nice little diversion from worrying about the Z changes. Nice to know there are kindred spirits out there.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming!

And what if, along with, for example, your Mother’s Day gift designs, you include a few Sephora items in your list—something colorful, fun, or that you personally like? Maybe that could bring some traffic to your list.
Just my opinion based on my brief experience with Benable.

I think you're absolutely correct about doing a bit of a mix, though Sephora wouldn't work for any of my lists since they're all book related, in particular e-books and Kindles. I'm mostly stuck with Amazon except for my bookish posters with which I could mix in a few other companies such as Walmart and, if it's offered, craft type places like Michael's. I wish Benable would offer a kind of voucher so you could choose the company. Or am I wrong and is it just a matter of choosing a product offered by a specific company?

I believe you can share whatever you want from any site — some give you royalties and bonuses, and others don’t, but it’s like enriching your lists with varied recommendations. Well, it’s pure speculation, there’s still a lot to learn, and I think now is the time to do it before it becomes as crowded as Pinterest. Being a pioneer might offer some advantages. Good luck!

Something I discovered a couple days ago is that using sub-sections is no different from having those same sections as individual lists on the main page. To wit: I divided one of my lists into two sub-sections, each with less than 15 items but totaling about 20 items, and I can't get a checkmark for the overall list on the main page, not unless I can come up with (to my mind) extraneous items for each of the sub-sections.

So beware of dividing a list into two or more parts.

Colorwash's Home

That's so weird. Most of my lists have sections that are only 4-8 items per section. Some have less than that. And all but one of my lists have the green check mark. (Excluding the ones that don't have enough total items of course.) I thought it was the description on the items that counted. Like, my Stylish and Unique Bags list is the only one that doesn't have the green check mark. So I need to go back and figure out longer/better descriptions for the items. But all my others that I've done that to already have the check mark.

I had to dig for it, but I found Benable's "How To Get The Green Check Mark" to do list suggestions, maybe it'll help someone:

Thank you for the link! I read through it, changed a couple things that didn't need changing other than that I made them a tad more personal, and we'll see what happens. The total list has 18 items, so that can't be the problem. Oddly, I got one of those emails that says they think the list is great and will be featuring it. Who knows?

@Silvara  That did the trick. At some point when I wasn't looking, I received the badge, and I'm positive it's because of you, so thank you!

Many thanks Mariholly, for posting this  I have already made a small commission!  Happy to have people following me on Benable and joining them up!  Could have a positive impact re directing marketing for zazzle ,or another way to  increase income for zazzlers ,experiencing lower sales here.

It might be worth dedicating a bit of time to it. I don’t know how I did it, I don’t know how I got those bonuses… But there they are.

I think that sharing products you like from the brands that get unlocked along with our Z products, in a meaningful way, could be a winning strategy to earn small incomes and generate traffic and sales. I don’t know if referrals or self-referrals will be generated given the current situation—maybe the money will go to the third party, Z, who knows? But it might be interesting.

The lists shouldn’t be too big, around 15 to 20 recommendations, so I’m starting to believe that my designs will be seen, and that’s already something important

.

That is certainly a great start Mariholly ! The benable referral bonus must be the amount earned by signing people up to the program!

There’s also a $20 Sephora gift card, but I have no idea what to do with it or how to use it, and I don’t even live in the USA—it might only work there.
I shared the first earnings along with a list on IG, and that triggered everything else, but I’m not even sure that was the reason.

Doesn't Benable have a spot where they store any and all tutorials that we can rummage through for information and tutorials? I can't find anything except for when I get an email from them with suggestions.

I found the most helpful Benable tutorials for me on YouTube. I did a search on YouTube for "Benable Tutorials". I found great tutorials by Maria Bowe, Community Growth Lead at Benable. Anything by her is helpful.  I am just getting started and have not even published any lists yet, but I have a paper list of lists I want to build! Pouring through the tutorials before I get going.

That's what I'm beginning to see, that in-print tutorials other than the single Google doc by Benable, are done on YouTube. Frankly, I think it's shame on Benable for not producing good help files. For instance, I've found editing titles to be a nightmare because, though it looks in one place as if you can do it, you end up with a train wreck there, so you have to find the other place. Such things should be addressed in a tutorial...if not fixed so it doesn't happen.

Yes, I noticed you haven't made any lists yet, but I have faith in you and followed you yesterday. 😀

Can anyone explain or compare the Benable auto-affiliate link option when promoting your own or others Zazzle products. Does it change the link so we wont get anything from Zazzle?

Barbara
Esteemed Contributor

I've had suspicions about just that, and I think there might be a few people who've sold via Benable and could answer both your and my question. Given that Benable makes its money by taking their cut in our commissions, by the time they take their share and then Zazzle takes its own share, what the devil would we be left with?

benable is working well for now, nothing big either, but Pinterest is the same as always, I do not get much return. I am a rather small creator, but thank you!
