Here is a comparison as they automatically change over the Blooming Elegant Family. The Sans font was already typed in all caps, so it doesn't look too bad with Dongle. So far, I the ones I have that were not already all caps, have not been changed, so I don't know how that will go.
I do like the J better on Blooming Elegant, and also the fact that it was a more uniform thickness. while Morgana looks more elegant, it also tends to not be so visible in the thumbnail because of the thinner up-strokes. Overall, it's a pretty good match though, and I'm happy they found another font with universal tails.
Here's a comparison with tails:

Looks better than I was anticipating! Hopefully it won't be a huge problem. Still holding my breath on the symbol fonts though.

I'm very sorry to see the blooming elegant font go, I liked it much better than the replacement. I think the replacement is more generic and less grounded.

I like Morgana better simply because the 'a' is closed, no longer looking like a 'u'.

Morgana is much more elegant than Blooming Elegant. I never liked Blooming Elegant on invites and barely used it. However, I do like the change where I did. It fits my style much better.

I agree. The only thing I like better with Blooming Elegant vs. Morgana is that BE doesn't have so much contrast between the thick and thin strokes, so it shows up a bit better in the thumbnail.

Ugh. I use the Blooming Elegant sans serif a lot and probably randomly type it in in capitals since that was its default. Good to see if you did type in all caps, it looks OK. I'm exhausted thinking about going back to fix things.

Do the tails auto add themselves where you already had the right coding in place? And, do we think the same coding will work with the new fonts? Thanks, your examples are very helpful.

Hi Vivian the tails have been added in the right space, but I have found some issues with them. Initially they look fine, but if a client changes the text several times the tail changes its style to a much longer tail that in some cases doesn't even fit in place and goes to the next line! I have some products where clients order several identical products with different names, once they add the different name the second or third time, the tail style changes!! Also I noticed that Zazzle is not always placing the new Morgana text in the same spot and this affects the design! I have some examples below.
I was very careful while designing this menu to leave enough space so all letters will fit without going over the last name, and now this font replacement messed it all up!
And that's not counting issue #3, now my cover photos don't match the product!
I hope Zazzle reconsiders. These issues will cause a huge amount of problems and questions from clients and ultimately reduce sales.
Many brides order these menus in batches now they won't be able to complete their menus to match, and when they come back to complete their order they will find out that the name tail is not working properly after a few tries! Guess what is going to happen, I will receive constant questions of very upset clients letting me know my design doesn't work!
Many of my best sellers have Blooming Elegant Script and Blooming Elegant Sans, and I do prefer the look of Blooming Elegant Script over Morgana. I don't like Morgana's spiky capital letters look ;-(
I will add this post in all the other Blooming Elegant threads so everyone gets informed.

I'm seeing the same thing - the swashes change when the template is edited by the customer.
Here's a PID as an example: 256346179019267657

It looks like the ascenders and descenders (or whatever the proper terminology is for how far the letters extend above and below the line) are bigger on Morgana than they were for Blooming Elegant Script, so it messes up designs like this because the tails on letters that extend beneath the line now cover up the text below. I've also got cases where I had the text placed right at the green safe line, so the increased height on some letters causes them to extend beyond the safe area.
Fortunately for me, it's only a dozen designs or so - but some of my best-selling business cards are impacted. I'm going to experiment with the new fonts and see if I can find a better replacement and then submit the changes for replacement. I'll let you know if I find something that works better in that regard. Sigh.

Yeah - well, something weird is clearly going on with the special character swashes. They obviously had to change not only the font, but also which character it was (because the swashes in Blooming Elegant live in different spots in the unicode chart than the Morgana swashes.) But some of my designs have shown some really weird things - like the process got interrupted half way through or something. Check this one out. The font is still Blooming Elegant Script, but the swash characters have been changed so it looks like nonsense. If I change this manually to Morgana, those r's at the beginning and ending of the word turn into swashes.
Anyhow, it's becoming clear to me that this isn't a simple switch and done process - like there are several steps involved and the system is making changes here and there but not all at once. I'm wondering if that might have something to do with your weird issue where the swash suddenly changes? I can't think exactly what the mechanics of that might be, but I'm gonna give it a week or so for things to settle before I start trying to correct things manually because it's clear that a lot is in flux at the moment!

That's a good question. I'm wondering what happens if someone customizes one of these "in flux" products. Will the AutoMagic start making changes to their saved design? Like if a customer has a problem and they send me a share link so I can fix it for them, will the changes all stick? Thoughts to ponder... 🙄😜🤔

This is a different glyph, all fonts are coded differently by designers so there is NO UNIVERSAL swash. So thats where those glyphs are stored in the font map on one font, but it is different on another font and therefore is showing up as regular characters.
I am guessing Blooming Elegant going away was a licensing issue, but this was NOT well thought out. Especially with the sans font that was automatic CAPS lock so a lot of us didn't both to type the text in CAPS when using it. Since there is no CAPS button in our type tool, this is really a headache. I HOPE THEY PLAN UPDATE THE TYPE FEATURES TO INCLUDE AN ALL CAPS BUTTON. Seems like one of those intuitive things that should have long been coded in.
I am exhausted thinking about going through designs to find how horribly they've changed. I like Morgana as a font, BUT I DO NOT LIKE IT IN PLACE OF Blooming Elegant. And again, there is no such thing as universal glyphs. All fonts are coded differently.

Yup, the switch to Morgana required changing the characters on the glyphs as well as the font. They did manage to get this particular design sorted out after a few days, and a few other glitchy type things seem to have sorted themselves out as well. I have had to fix a handful of designs manually - mostly because Morganas tails (on the letters "g" and "y" etc.) seem to extend further below the line that Blooming Elegant, and it cause a problem with some designs.
The ones I'm really holding my breath on are the symbol fonts. They haven't done much replacing of those yet, but the ones I've found where they have replaced them have produced less than stellar results. Sigh.

Yeah, Blooming Elegant was a good fit for this design. Unfortunately, I think it's hard to replace a font family with individual disconnected fonts.😐

If you are one of the unlucky ones where the blooming elegant font change has ruined your design(s) 😭 what can you do about it? Can you select another font yourself or do you have to re-post the designs?
Thanks!

You can edit the design to change it to something you like and then press the Replace Product button. The popularity of the product determines the time it takes to update, ie stuff that's super popular takes the longest, I guess because someone has to check it over carefully

Thank you very much ! Unfortunately there's still nothing 🤔. I've tried adding new text and images, but after I click done all I'm left with is 'Edit Design' or 'Sell it'. Hopefully the roll out is just slow and hasn't reached some of us yet....

Unfortunately some people don't have the replace option yet. Thankfully I do have it. I was never a fan of Blooming Elegant, so I don't have to cope with that change very much and the replacement fits my design aesthetic. I do feel for the designers who used it on thousands of products.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that!... Just a thought, why not add a technical support forum post, letting the technical team know you still don't have access to the "replace" function and that you need it in order to fix some of the changes caused by the fonts replacements. Maybe this way the will take a look to your particular account and make it available for you.

The reason I used Blooming Sans was because it was all caps, so I didn't have to type everything in all caps, or hope that the customer realizes they have to do that. Dongle isn't all caps. The two fonts are very similar otherwise, though.

This may be obvious, but how do i now add the swashes/tails to my font with Morgana? In the past I used the swashes from my blooming elegant font that i had downloaded. How do we add tails to new products using Morgana?

You need a chart of the special characters. Lots of info buried in this thread:

Thank you for the links, I already read those and i I can find. I understand the concept , i have been using blooming elegant swashes that I cut and paste from my font book in my Mac. I downloaded the font. I guess what I was asking is that how everyone gets these charts? Doesn't someone have download the font and make these charts? And they are sharing the swashes... I was looking for a font with swashes/tails that are universal instead of set letters with swashes. Hope that makes sense. thanks again

Well, what I did was to use a Unicode character chart. https://jrgraphix.net/r/Unicode/E000-F8FF
I copy/pasted each character (the little hollow boxes) one at a time into a separate text box in a Zazzle product to see if there was anything in there for a given font. Both tedious and hit & miss, but it's the only way I know to see what's in those characters.
