Bot detector

It's really annoying to be logged in and working in my store and have to be interrupted periodically to prove I am human.

I've found that logging out and back in again can help to reassure the anti-bot detector that I am real (whereas holding a key down for a few seconds didn't seem to work earlier today, even after about 10 attempts).

Oh yes, this Press n hold thing is popping up much frequently since yesterday.... good to know that it's not just me !

@Moderators @Mark.  @James.

—-the press and hold bot was very active and eager to repeatedly stop my work yesterday while I was updating tags and descriptions. Breaks concentration, extremely frustrating. Doesn’t work properly, had to keep logging in/out. Closing browser, clearing cache, trying to remember where I was EACH TIME the lousy cursed thing popped up.  Sarcasm ahead—-What a great way 👎😤to encourage shops to update their products. —end sarcasm.
Zazzle please respect the time that your subcontractors invest in their shops and allow us to bypass the bot. There’s really no need to keep bottlng us, we are already verified, logged in and working in our shops. ( Been here since 2008, this press and hold bot has only revved up heavy in the past several years, it’s like a very nasty virus.)

And, btw, I only had one tab open, not multiples. But working thru hundreds of products at a time.

I'm quite agree about that. Moreover we didn't received any notification about introduction of that. I would suggest to inform us about that and use it only when it is totally tested and working perfectly.

If I remember correctly, the last time I had a bot-attack was when I had several tabs open for different products that I was "optimizing." I thought, at the time, this was what triggered it. Not that I'm going to stop opening multiple tabs. It's the only way to streamline things.

Colorwash's Home

That would make sense. I always have lots of tabs open!

Thank you for sharing about this concern. Recently it happened to me much times, moreover it doesn't work. Best solution so far I used for security is SMS code as Zazzle does for chat.

Yes I just posted about this 😠

I am experiencing the same thing. I couldn't do anything this morning until I tried clearing my browsing history and then logged out and turned my laptop on and off. That worked for a few hours and then I had to do it all over again. Very frustrating and a giant waste of time. Thanks for posting, so I know it isn't just me.

Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Hey,

I will pass this on now!

Thanks 🙂

@Fiona I think this might be a bigger issue.  I've never had problems, nor has my mom (in a separate house), and all of a sudden both of us have been having this issue consistently since yesterday.  In addition to the screen coming up every few seconds (sometimes every tiny action I take), it takes about 5 seconds for the 'press & hold' button to even appear.  And now it's failing regularly.  And sometimes it will say 'check internet connection' (which I know is ok because everything else, including my streaming TV is OK). My mom is having the same issues as well.

Also happening on other devices of mine.

I am on HP laptop using the latest Windows and Edge. All very vanilla. I have no browser extensions, ad blockers etc. I just use the Windows Defender no McAfee or stuff like that. I am doing nothing different than I was two days ago.

I'm on both a Mac desktop and Macbook Pro, and it is doing it on Chrome. It is happening to my mother on a Macbook Air. I'm also aware of others this is happening to that just aren't on the forum.  As others have said below, I'm not doing anything different than I normally do.

I clicked on my product from my email and I got this ??? Never had this before😕Access to this page has been denied.jpeg

It's just another CAPTCHA/anti-bot thing.

Jadendreamer13

I’ve had that appear on occasion.

Both myself and my mom in two separate houses are getting this since yesterday. Sometimes every few seconds. And not it's routinely failing and saying 'check internet connection'. It also is taking about 5 seconds for the button to even load.

Firefox browser - getting it every time I try and do something

Sara_H_0-1729613883428.png

site is unusable for me today - unable to get to the store backend so I'm off for the day

edited to add - am in the UK @Zizzago is Australia so perhaps it's an international bot detection process going overboard

@jophbare you in the US or elsewhere?

I'm in the US and on a Chrome browser

Very annoying...happening all day today, I'm in the US and on Firefox

I wonder if this comes in phases... I had it earlier today too.  Pressing and holding worked for about 1 second until the 'press & hold' request appeared again - I was going round in circles with it. Eventually, logging out, and back in, seemed to do the trick

This is happening on nearly every page I open today.  And even after I get the check mark, it makes me do it again.  It is making the site frustratingly unusable.

I haven't gotten attacked by that today, but some days it hits me and it's SO frustrating! Not quite as bad as the endless pages of "find all the squares with cars, and then bridges, and then motorcycles, and then crosswalks, and then mountains, etc. etc.!"

Zorinda

I no longer use the image option which I find as frustrating and circular you do.  Since i’ve started using the voice option, it’s more palatable.  It forces you to listen to a phrase, often mostly unintelligible but for a couple of words, then I bring up the microphone and repeat the words I recognize. (You can type words in as well.)  One word sometimes works, but I usually try for 2-3 which is more reliable.  Occasionally I can’t understand or hear a very low volume phrase, but you just opt for a new one. I find this method way faster, easier and far less frustrating.

I'm in U.S. also and I keep getting the press and hold button a lot basically every day it seems!  I reported it along with others few months ago, as couldn't do much of anything without it constantly popping up!  Never received a response regarding it.  Can't stand it.  It happens on my Samsung phone and tablet.  And yes, that other "find the cars, bridges, etc." is extememly annoying too, a bit worse!  Was so glad that was gone!  Don't understand why in our own stores working on things we have to deal with this.  Ugh!

Getting it all of a sudden the last few days too. I've also noticed that the site has been behaving badly - pictures not loading or taking forever etc. Makes me wonder if they're dealing with a DoS attack or something and the "prove you're not a bot" thing is an attempt to deal with the problem.

Yes, I've been having a lot of various issues since the bot thing started appearing the past two days. Like it errors trying to add items to collections and other random weird things like that.

On Zazzle it has never happened to me. I’m generally on Firefox or my iPhone. Very seldom I check something in other browsers. I think it perhaps happens more often nowadays because many people are browsing “privately” by default. And some ISPs don’t assign the same IP number to you anymore like they used to do more so in the old days.

This is happening to us too  - I love to know if this is Z way of incorporating a cookie so the sale is no longer self or referral!!

I've had this happen to me a few times, including yesterday. The press and hold option failed multiple times. Closing the tab and reopening it fixed the issue though. However, there were a couple of times before when I had to log out and log back in for the site to work.

Firefox, newest version, on a desktop with Windows 7. It would seem it has little or maybe nothing to do with those attributes, given the already wide array of systems begin reported.

I just experienced a bot attack so bad that I had to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del to get rid of all the hidden bot screens created when I had a bunch of tabs open. Even after that, I had to fight to sign back in.

Those of us who've used computers for years are prone to opening multiple tabs, and I'm sure a lot of customers can be in this group. They're likely to open multiple tabs as they're shopping. Do they also get booted out of Zazzle?

So, is it number of browser tabs or is it speed of working that gets the bot's shorts in such a twist? Whatever it is, it's made me decide to find something else to do today.

I emailed Zazzle support about this issue, and here's the response I got:

The difficulties you are experiencing may be caused by browser incompatibility or even a security setting.

Please take the following steps to ensure that your system is optimally configured for the Zazzle experience.

  1. Make sure that you are using up-to-date versions of Zazzle-supported browsers: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.
  2. Clear your private data, cache, and cookies within the web browser application.
  3. Adjust security settings and pop-up blockers in your browser, or contact your systems administrator.
  4. Restart your device. A sluggish device can cause problems accessing the website’s full functionality.
