Comment regarding 'Zoom In' change on product page

Just noticed a new feature being tested on the product pages...instead of  'Zooming In' when you click on the product image it now provides a scrolling image with a title of  'back' or 'front', etc.

It's nice to be able to scroll through the images and know which one you're viewing, however it was just as convenient to scroll through the images below the product (when they still had titles) and  I miss the 'zoomed in' version. The new images are not zoomed in at all, they are actually smaller than the original. This doesn't seem to be an improvement IMO and actually seems a bit redundant. Will we be getting a separate 'zoom in' option somewhere?

??? The are quite large for me on my computer, maybe it's the device you are using?

I'm using a PC with Chrome and the background of the new image is large but the product part of the image actually measures a bit smaller than the original.

I think Zazzle is trying to avoid that customers can take a screenshot of their customized invitation or stationery to print it at home

You're probably right @Cristina .... that makes sense. Guess I'll just have to squint...lol.

Just occurred to me that maybe you are talking about the thumbnails on the "zoom" page, not the main images? Those are pretty small. The viewing area on my laptop, after accounting for Windows & browser toolbars, is 1393 x 704 when maximized. The thumbnails on the new "zoom" page are only approximately 65px (on the product page they are about 140). Much to small to see any detail without squinting but I think they are just intended for navigation. Which is why labels on the thumbs would be really more helpful than on just the main image. The main image (on the "zoom" page) is 1080 for me, quite large. I never measured how big they used to be but they def seem larger now then they were before.

Let's see if I can explain this better..lol. I didn't mean the thumbnails @ColsCreations. As it is now, if you hover over the main large product image, you will see a double-sided arrow cursor that implies 'zooming in'. If you click on it, we now get scrolling, labelled images that show each different view of the product. While this second, supposedly 'zoomed in' image is overlapping the original product image, you can actually see that the image of the product itself in front is actually smaller than the product image behind it. The background is quite large, but the product image portion of it is not. It's larger than the thumbnails of course, but it definitely isn't as zoomed-in as it used to be. This used to give us a close up view of the product but it no longer does that, so the zoom-type arrow cursor is a little misleading.

Hmmm. I'm trying to figure out what you are seeing. (I use Firefox not Chrome.)

So this is the regular product page:

1-ProductPage.jpg

and this is the "zoom" page:

2-ZoomPage.jpg

I see what you mean, that you can see a bit of the outline of the default size page image  under the zoom page view, but if you overlay the two pages you can see that the zoomed image view is much larger.

If you're seeing the zoomed image smaller than the one behind it as you said, maybe it's a bug in Chrome?

Ah...it looks like we're on the same page now, metaphorically speaking..lol, but we're not getting the same results. Maybe this is something they're testing ...  from the images you attached, it appears you are still seeing the old view I used to get. Now, instead of the zoomed in image, I'm getting a different screen (like the one below), that has scrolling arrows on the left and right, view titles and duplicate thumbnails under it. I just tried Firefox and MS Edge browsers and I got the old screen, so maybe it does have something to do with Chrome?? You can see to the left that the original image is slightly larger. And by the way, thank you for sticking with me to figure this out!

I saw that a couple of days ago, but the day after that, it went back to the way it is now. The scrolling thumbnails looked big to me on Chrome, but I have my zoom on Chrome set to 100%. It was nice to just scroll thru the situ images and not have to keep clicking on the thumbnails below the product, but you are right the zoom pics were not as large as it is now. It does seem redundant to have it scrolling on the zoomed in image and below the product at the same time. I never saw it on my fire table, only on Chrome. It Is probably a test.

Since they first introduced the new "zoom page" (I don't know how else to briefly call it so sticking with that) a week or three ago, it's looked to me on Firefox like it does in my screenshots. I really liked the large 1080 images even though they were actually too big to fit completely on my screen vertically. I loathed the vertical scroll though.

I never tried it in another browser until tonight. With Firefox and Brave I get the zoom page I showed above - 1080 images, vertical scroll, no labels on the thumbnails, thumbnails on the left, semi-trans overlay.
In Opera and Chrome I get this:

4-Zoompage.jpg

1020 images, no scroll (must click thumbnails), thumbnails on the left, labels on thumbnails, opaque white page. I haven't encountered the version you're seeing with the smaller images, thumbs on the bottom, horizontal scroll, and lighter semi-trans overlay. I guess now it's clear we're not all seeing the same thing as they tinker with and test different formats. I really really really hope they settle on a combination using

* the horizontal scroll w/clickable arrows you're seeing
* thumbs on the left & labeled (and also clickable)
* the more grayed-out semi-trans overlay I'm seeing in my first screenshots
* the 1020 image size which is a perfect fit for my screen/res  😉

Also - I love your card art! The hot pinks and bright teal w/ some black thrown in to make it really pop and a tropical theme - I would totally be drawn to this on home decor items or for wall art.

It must be in testing because I have not go the options you described. I wish they would just leave it be. I just got used to the images at the bottom.

I know right...lol. What ever happened to  'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' ??

I no longer have visitors from certain countries selling on Amazon. Luckily.

I noticed it's back today on Chrome, on the products when you zoom in on the product image, you get the scrolling situ views. The new zoomed in image is way smaller than the normal zoomed in larger image. After looking at it again, it is difficult to see all the fine details of the design, on the new zoomed in image.

They must be testing various options, because I don't have that scrolling function.

It must be a test, I can see it one day and then the next day it's gone.

OH NO - not again !! This link below the product image on product page:

Tap / click on image to see more RealViewsTM

No varying views at side or bottom of image - is very disconcerting. Sharing of images is now almost impossible, unless doing from the back-end product lists and using the default view.
