Anyone else notice a curious spike in linkovers on the 30th March?

Just curious to see if anyone else noticed this. I would love to know what effects this. I know the last time I had a spike like this, others did too.

I Never Had this kind of spke, I never have linkovers more than 2 digits per day. this is crazy, where do you post your products? Do you post on Pinterest? 😮 If so, How many products did you post???

Leah has a big and beautifully constructed web site, one that's likely to draw a large number of visitors who then go on to click her links. @CreativeLeahG : I meant some time ago to compliment you on the site, but I'm doing it now! Could it be that your site was linked to from someplace, resulting in all the linkovers?

In the meantime, my own linkovers have been normal.

Most links come from Pinterst and Facebook as I have a number of FB groups, I do have many blogs and the website you mentioned (thank you for the lovely compliment) but traffic there is low presently as the website is only a baby in terms of Google.

Just checked my own, and my numbers are comparable to yours and yes, drastic increase on the 30th. Roughly 3-4 times the numbers on a "usual" day.

I wish we knew what these spikes were related to!

That's two Diamond sellers. I wonder, does it have anything to do with both of you being wise about what kinds of products you design and when you focus on them? For instance, do you focus on weddings and graduations when the time is right (the way I never think to do)?

I'm a Platinum presently but my link overs were pretty much always high, even as a lower level pro so I suspect it may have something to do with close to 90,000 pins and all the other sharing I've always done across the various social platforms.

Sharing. I really have to do more of it. I start out with such good intentions, work on it diligently for a couple days, then fade away. You deserve both applause and your high status here.

yes, I've always encouraged sharing of every single product. I always pin everything and then a few items I will also tweet, add to various FB sites (pages and groups) and to Instagram (Instagram is a more recent thing so not many there as yet).

You rock 👍  I need to do more sharing but sometimes I'm worried about getting ban or something specially pinterest, I knew Website are pretty useless these days, blogs are getting buried under the shadow, only Social Media controls the interenet marketing these days, I mean people just hangout on social media, not on blog, most average people don't like reading blogs, they only scan them for information and jump to another page.

I agree. Social media is littered with younger people, and it's younger people who are probably the buyers on Zazzle.

I think the demographic is quite wide ranging ... people who don't want to go 'out' and shop so this could be older generation. people who want commemorative gift items .... potentially older. I suspect more women. Zazzle would have data on this. Might be another question worth asking as again we can then target our own marketing to those groups.

It's all about the women 🙂
Women make up more than half of the U.S. population, and control or influence 85% of consumer spending.

Just a few examples of the power of women spending:

92% of Vacations

80% of Healthcare

65% of New Cars

89% of Bank Accounts

93% of Food purchases

93%  of OTC Pharmaceuticals

I can pin around 100 items a day, they do have a limit but few hours later can pin again, no problems so far as they auto regulate it.

re focusing on things in a timely manner... yes and no.

For example now would be a good time for Mother's day and I haven't done any recently but I did do some a couple of months ago. Really things need to be done a few months in advance if blogging (gives Google a chance to catch up to them) and sharing can be done a month before hand when people begin shopping for them so they 'pop' up for them at the right time.

Also people associate me with weddings as I have that as a 'passion' but I do a huge amount of other items. Gift things.

Oh you flatter.  I'm fairly certain I've never been accused of "being wise" lol.  Although I do tend to at least try and focus on seasonal events, and stay fun & fresh with new stuff. Huge comepition out there with brilliant designers.

For me the spikes were the 26th, 28th and the 30th. If it meant more sales I'm all for that. 😄

Yes, I have the same type of spike on the 30th. It would be be interesting to know the reason.

I think the spike could probably have something to do with Salary Day!, People shop after recieving their paycheck 😅 end of the month is the salary day on almost every country.

CreativeLeahG

That would make sound sense except this hasn't happened on previous ends of the month.

I had spikes on the 30th, 4/2 & 4/3. (Hey, I'll take it – my pinterest numbers are horrendous! 😉)

PAZP

Yep, my Pinterest numbers dumped by half since after Christmas. They seem to be making changes to the scheduling process and it's adding more clicks to each new pin being scheduled. Frustrating.

For those also seeing these spikes, take a look at page 41 and 14 and see if like me those are exceptionally high weeks. July 2022 and Jan 2021.

I'm curious, during your spike days, do you have spike in sales too? or just spikes in linkovers?

CreativeLeahG
Honored Contributor III

That's a very good question! I haven't checked. I will do so!

edit: NO

30/3/23 linkovers 2043 - 45 sales

30/3/22 linkovers 783 - 155 sales

Strange eh!

🤔If only we have additional info on the linkovers, we would know where those links came from...

somthing tells me I need to promote more, I'm currently divided between designing and promoting.... my new products are not getting any views.  I'm a bit discourage, my last sales are around early march 😩 , it seems to me your're getting sales almost everyday.

CreativeLeahG

I do get sales daily, I'm a Platinum seller, but they are down considerably as you can see compared to last year.

Not on that date, but earlier in March ... and no, it didn't correlate to higher sales, which has always been a headscratcher for me!

Could be Labor Day weekend shoppers.

I didn't see any spike in sales.
Those are probably bots indexing the listings, not people shopping.
