Designs with "Alligator Alcatraz"

I'm appalled and disgusted by the many, many shops with "designs" they sell as "funny" when in reality they're dealing with concentration camps.
To call something like that funny is probably one of the most malicious things, dripping with contempt for humanity, that I've ever seen.
And I can't understand how something like that is allowed to be sold here, Zazzle.
You celebrate Pride Month, write about how committed you are to minorities. You hold special events for them, and these are the people who will end up in these camps sooner or later.
Please remove these horrible shops!

@LuciaS  Such a true statement - thanks for your post Lucia. And it’s so incredible sad and scary as well. Please Zazzle?

Thank you for calling this out, @LuciaS.  It is also a racist trope.

Thank you for your post, Lucia. I heard vaguely about it, but didn't know the details. Now I do, after a Wiki consultation. And I wholeheartedly agree with you. That said, designs violating terms and trademarks/copyright are usually taken down either after an order or a report, so these designs being in the marketplace doesn't necessarily mean they are allowed by Zazzle. I don't know, if texts such as descriptions, titles, and tags violating rules and infringing property rights are handled automatically. If yes, the word combo should perhaps be put on the blacklist.

These types of designs are also being pulled off of Amazon Merch.

Good!
I reported some on RB too and now I wait, what they will do.

I just typed in Alligator Alcatraz on Zazzle, and it shows 887 results. This is what Zazzle has as unacceptable content. They better be paying attention. This is about violence, mistreatment, and bad taste.

  • No excessive violence
  • No content that can reasonably be viewed as harassing, threatening, or otherwise harmful
  • No content that can reasonably be viewed as discriminatory based upon race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability

Thanks for bringing this topic up. I have searched for designs and have reported a bunch. Most of the shopkeepers seem to have zero idea what this is about. And several come from Morocco, Egypt, Serbia or Indonesia, so I think they feel like they are jumping on some kind of a cool trend.

Here is how one shopkeeper is marketing his design:

If the shirt says the guy said it, the guy said it.

Yes, I think some people from other countries don't even realize what they're doing. American shop owners, however, know exactly what they're doing, and they describe their products like this: "Last stop before country of origin! If you try to escape through the everglades and get lost, don't worry, Officer Allie the alligator will find you."

I am going to report some as well. Perhaps a larger volume of reports will warrant swifter action from Zazzle. Thanks for bringing this up - it's awful on so many levels.

There are now 993 products that come up with this search. This is a racist trope and needs to be removed.
