Did anyone else notice a surge in linkovers on these two days - 8th and 9th August?

@CreativeLeahG I had triple the amount of linkovers 7th, 8th and 9th (not triple the sales though 😂🤣😂)

Yes, I had an increase in linkovers as well on the 7th, 8th and 9th.

@CreativeLeahG

yes ma'am, I did ... 🙂

289 linkovers for August 9 (which is my 3rd highest for linkovers)
623 linkovers for August 8 (that's a personal record high).
(sales on August 8 were so-so but sales on August 9 were very good).

also saw a spike on linkovers for July 23 ... 592 linkovers.

Well done!!

I did a few referrals on the 9th, but then it went 'unusually quiet'.

@CreativeLeahG thanks, Leah!

me, too! it went quiet for me on the 10th and 11th. sales started picking up again on the 12th and 13th (ironically since the weekends are quiet for me (as they are for you!))

This is interesting you mention the quiet weekends because there are optimal times to post content which I shared on Instagram. I'll find that post because it does make a difference to views!

@CreativeLeahG

I recall that you mentioned optimal times on your website 🙂 ... so, taking that advice to heart, I've prescheduled a number of Pinterest tweets for this week with that in mind!

I've noticed that when I don't post to Pinterest regularly (i.e. every day), my linkovers will take a dive to double digits. Since I've been posting regularly for the past 10-12 days, I've managed to keep my daily linkovers in the triple-digit range.

where are your buyers came from? United States only? or are there buyers outside united states?

almost overwhelmingly U.S.

U.K., and Australia, used to figure in for some sales every month as well, but since last August, sales from outside of the U.S. have dipped to nonexistent levels. not sure why!

Mine are US, Germany, UK and Australia respectively.

I used to find that about 2/3 of my sales were from the US, with the rest being Europe (especially the UK) and a small amount from Australia. In 2023 however sales have been over 90% US. I think that has been caused by a substantial drop in non-US sales as my total overall sales have dropped in line with that.

@Jules that's my feeling (and trend) too.

It's odd isn't it!! I wish we knew what created these 'surges' in traffic!!

Probably bots indexing the listings. Bots from Pinterest etc.

I don't think these referral linkovers are botified. If @Scott could confirm please?

I never look at my Link-Overs because I do little to no promoting and when I do it's in spurts, posting the same thing(s) to Pinterest and Facebook and then going months without sharing anything else. So my Link-Overs are abysmally low, like we're talking mostly single digits here. Except on the 12th they spiked up to 45 for unknown reason. Except wait, I think I have figured the reason - on the 12th I made this forum post which included a link to a CYO product that included my ref ID since I just copied the share code. I had to go back 25 pages on my Link Over History to find other unusual spikes but I bet if I tried to cross-ref things, those spike dates would match with dates I posted a link to something in the forums that happened to include my ref ID. So my thinking is that while a link from the forums won't earn you a cookied referral, it does get included in your Link-Over History.
So on the dates you guys are seeing spikes, did you happen to post something to the forums for a Mod to check out and therefore maybe lots of other readers clicked the link too?

That's very interesting and shows you, a quick share here and there could be very valuable to you! I share every single item.

I haven't shared anything to forum in a while and don't usually include referral links when I do.

It's just weird how collectively many us get these spikes on the same days so I think it's less about what we are doing and something else.

It could be the result of customers having days when they're busier on social media than usual.

It would be helpful to know if bots are involved but as they're referral link specific I don't see how. But I'm not overly familiar with bot behavior.

I did see more referrals on spikezilla days!

No @ColsCreations I hadn't promoted anything on any of my social media accounts nor here on the forums from the 7th - 9th and the increase was still there.

Not in my case either. I wish we knew what it was!

Come-on Zazzle, give us some insight!! 😄

I saw the increase from the 6th through the 9th. Interesting little blips but I haven't figured out it was anything I did.

Same here. Weird. Not sure if it really did anything for sales, tho.

Hi. My Linkovers almost doubled on the 9th, potentially as a result of a Pinterest surge. Were your Pinterest stats different on those days?

For my surge, I noticed a major increase in Pinterest Impressions, mainly from one pin that received about 10 times my usual range. I also Tweeted a lot that day, but not enough to result in a major spike in Linkovers.

My Pinterest surge was unusually high, although I've ocassionally seen my pins (both organically saved and created) get unexpected results. This time it was a saved pin so it didn't maintain its high numbers. The next day, both my Pinterest stats and Zazzle Linkovers were in my normal range.

I hope you get more insight!

That's very interesting, I'll have a look! I know a couple of idea pins gained over 1000 views in a short period, I'll check the dates, I had about 5 referrals on one of the days but not for the items promoted with those pins.

@CreativeLeahG had another surge in linkovers again last night ... triple what has become my daily average of 100 ... 331. Did pin (and pre-pin) a little bit more than usual yesterday (but not that much more), but it seems that someone is promoting my stuff.

CreativeLeahG

Excellent! I shall check mine.

@CreativeLeahG

my daily linkovers for Aug 16 are still high -- 2.5X my 10-day daily average. I do notice that when there's a spike, it usually lasts between 2-3 days. if it's a 3-day spike, it's the middle day that has the most daily linkovers.

Mine did spike by a couple of hundred on 16th and dropped again by 150 on 17th.
