Earnings Royalty shows a sale from shindigz_paperplates and royalty is much lower

I recently unchecked "Do not allow my products to be sold on other websites" under Marketing and Promotions. I have two recent sales now - one from "shindigz" another from "spoke" as the seller . The royalty is much lower on the shindigz sale. Wondering if I should recheck the box to not allow sales on other sites since royalty is lower. Does selling elsewhere drive away from my Zazzle store? Also I looked up Shindigz and found information it ceased operations a couple of years ago.

If this happened to me, I'd write to Zazzle directly. Especially that you've found information regarding Shindigz closing shop.

I personally have never un-clecked that box. Selling my designs outside of the Zazzle domain just feels icky to me.

Thanks for your reply. I unchecked because I saw recommendations for more exposure general. But I agree with you, that's why I had it checked in the first place. I think I will recheck now since this sale seems sketchy and the royalty is greatly reduced.

@jms They are too different products made by different suppliers so your royalty won't be the same. The "shindigz" is paper plates and "spoke" is towels

Paper plates cost a lot less than towels hence your royalties will be different (plus less 40% MRF)

Thanks for your reply. I will check out the links you sent. I thought the royalty percentage I have set would be the amount I receive for the sale. Although it seems the amount of the sale shown in the Earnings is the gross and not the net after sales and coupons? That must be why the actual royalty paid is not the percentage of that amount.

@jms Whatever royalty you set will be liable for the Marketing Referral Fee when it sells via a 3rd party referral so expect to get 35 - 50% less when it is 3rd party referred

You can ignore the "Estimated earnings" amount in the edit details screen  - you'll never get that amount

"I have two recent sales now - one from "shindigz" another from "spoke" as the seller ."

I don't understand what you mean by that. We only see the first name and location of the buyer.

spoke & shindigz are product names, you can see them in the blanks for the products:

https://www.zazzle.com/pd/spp/pt-spoke_towels

https://www.zazzle.com/pd/spp/pt-shindigz_paperplates

If you look at Quick Stats on a product page you can also see the product name noted there -

spoke_towels
shindigz_paperplates

This is also the identifier that appears in the Product column of your Royalty history.

Royalties earned depend on the % you set, what if any discount was applied to the order, what type of sale it was, and what department the item is classified as if a referred sale.

Since I recently allowed my products on other sites and saw those names on the Royalty history I assumed those sales were from the other companies. My sales usually say Zazzle in front of the product number. I do see that now on the quick stats and thanks so much for pointing that out. I've been on Zazzle a couple of years but still not super familiar with everything. Have been learning/figuring things out as I go.

I suppose the total in earnings is gross and not net after coupons and discounts, so that must be why the royalty earned doesn't equate to the percentage of the total that is shown for the sale.
