Editors Pick photos

Just wondering how these Editors Picks work. I don't have any products chosen so far, even though I see other Z Pro stores like mine with several photos (if not dozens) chosen so far as Editors Pick. Statistically, it's quite impossible not to have anything 'nice' in the store or so I think. How often do they check for new products that are being created?

Having items chosen to be Editor's Pick does not guarantee more sales as it is in the end a matter of choice for each customer to purchase what THEY like but still, going forward with the store and towards the Bronze badge soon (hopefully) it would be nice to have some of my products chosen as Editors Pick.

To my knowledge, Zazzle hasn't given us any insight as to how it works. But here's what I noticed (by paying arguably too much attention 😂😬) - Sometimes it was an item Zazzle chose to promote that would get the EP star and sometimes the star came first and the promotion later. Many times no promotion at all. But in the last year or two from what I've seen they've come to a screeching halt. If you go to a category and sort by newest and filter for Editor Picks, there are very very few created in the last year. I looked at Christmas cards for example and there are 4 from 2024 (and actually - I'm not even seeing the star anymore). Graduation announcements and invitations have only 1 from this year.

Basically all that to say that it's definitely nice to get a gold star on your work - knowing that someone notices and likes something you created - but they seem to be phasing them out and I don't think they carry any special weight anymore (if they ever did) in terms of placement on the site or in marketing.

I also think it's not that important for a product to have the EP star because in the end is a matter of choice for each customer when they select the design they like the most on a product, but still it would be a nice recognition for any Creator (not only for the ones with the highest ranks / badges) that their designs are being seen and appreciated. After all, this is how all the creators started on Zazzle and now from what I've seen the EP goes to the Silver / Gold / Platinum faster than for anyone else. Don't get me wrong, they do bring the highest earnings for Zazzle, but we all have to start from somewhere and the EP would be a candid recognition of 'We, at Zazzle, see you too' 🙂 . More so, I believe it could encourage all the ones that in light of all these new changes feel a little bit discouraged. I don't know.. Just writing words 🙂

I agree! Like I said, who wouldn't love the boost of a gold star on their work? BUT when I looked today, I didn't see any stars anymore! Makes me wonder if they're phasing it out entirely.
You can still filter for EPs (I can't imagine a customer would honestly but again all guesses here), but there's no indicator in the gallery of products that it's an EP from what I see (I know Zazzle does A B testing). If you go to the product page, you can see a little tiny note at the top corner of the product image and that's it.
But I do totally agree having that hey we see you from Zazzle really does go a long way and would be nice if there were something in place besides just the pro levels to acknowledge top-tier work.

I'm not sure how they are selected, just wanted to add that some of the 'Pro' only accounts might actually be Silver and above ones.  Some people choose to hide their pro level and it will show as just Pro.

Why would someone choose to hide their level?

I don't know personally, but my guess would be that higher 'bronze' ones may hide because there is such a big difference between $1000 and $20,000+ (I know it's $25,000 for Silver). And the higher ones might hide it so that people are not inclined to copy their designs since they have more obviously had success. Again, that's just me speculating.

I recently lost all my editor picks, which I received around two years ago as a relatively new member. I must say, it was nice to be acknowledged, but these certain products weren't the most popular in the end;)

Once, a long time ago, one of my products was an EP. It wasn't my bestseller, most viewed, or one of my best designs. Being an EP didn't provide any new sales either. I've also noticed a reduction in the equivalent on Amazon where they're now using "Bestseller," "Popular with Shoppers" or "Trending," all of which are based on sales. They still have "Featured," the pay-to-play category. Maybe Zazzle has discovered like Amazon that customers have grown more savvy. Times have changed.

Last week when I commented, I mentioned that the little gold star was gone, but I was still seeing a little "Editor Pick" note on the product images when you went to the product page. It's gone now! I can still filter in the assortment (Add Filter > Special Picks > Editor Picks) but otherwise there's no indication. It really looks like Zazzle has nearly phased this out.

I have also noticed that the EP is almost gone now.

As for me at least, I cannot miss what I never had 🙂 But I always appreciated this idea of EP. And by always, I mean in the last a little over a year since I've been on Zazzle. Who knows, should have I opened a store here a few years ago, maybe I would have learned about other things too.

Indeed, times are changing.
