Font tool - please go back to the previous design.

Yesterday I worked on a new birthday invitation for about 3 hours.  I wasn't sure what font I wanted so I tried out several.  I would select a font, work with it a bit then look for a new one.  Every time I went to look at a new font it required clicking 5 times, just to get over to "All Fonts". In the 3 hours I was working on that card I must have clicked a hundred times, all trying to get back to "All Fonts".  Zazzle, please go back to the previous font tool or at least move "All Fonts" to the front of the line.  I appreciate trying something new, but this repetitive clicking is time consuming, aggravating and is not working.

I just experienced the new Font tool for the first time this morning. It is awful. Please put the old one back or at least make the All Fonts the first choice. It is slower and much more time consuming to use. It also covers up too much of the workspace. I spend a lot of time selecting the fonts for my Zazzle projects and this morning it took a lot longer. The fonts panel wasn't broken at all. It worked well and I really don't understand why it was changed.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Please go back to the "All Fonts" version.

The new font tool is clunky, cumbersome, and time consuming. It takes way too many clicks to get to the list of all fonts, which i could easily see with the old Ux. The Ux real estate footprint is massive.

If you can't roll it back, then I concur to at least make All Fonts be the default view or one of the first choices. I've never worked with a Ux that makes it so hard to choose fonts.

Yes, PLEASE go back to the old font tool! I agree with everybody else that it is clunky and slow and hard to use, covers too much of the design, and is a real pain in the neck to get to All Fonts!

100% agree. Very time consuming to use now.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything that's been said here!  The new font tool is terrible.  I am also wondering if some fonts are missing?  I can't seem to find Gothic Medium anymore.  Or maybe I just can't find it in this new system!  Ugh.

You'll find Gothic Medium if you click the drop-down arrow for Gothic Light:

Hey all,

I can pass your feedback along to our team. Thank you.

A tip. If you put A in the box then you can scroll through all the fonts. No need to be tabbing across all the time. 👍

I don't like new font layout format. It's big, gawky and I particularly dislike the lateral scroll option list of font categories: favs, recent, casual handwriting, etc. With a mouse pointer, a drop down menu works better and I like seeing all the category options all at once. Not piece by piece on a scroll line, which feels so visually limited. Could we not have an option to revert to a drop-down menu for mouse pointer use and also an option for new scroll format on font categories for people who use their fingers on phones & pads to choose? This is a customary solution when a change is made to offer a choice of either old or new format preference.

Not a fan of it either - it's a real space hog. Maybe I'll adjust once I get used to it, but it just seems like it requires a LOT of scrolling and moving around to get to all of the options. I do like the search option, but I just wish it was smaller relative to the rest of the screen - it's at least twice as wide as the old font window was.

I totally agree. I especially don't like the fact that "All Fonts" is at the very end! That is much more useful tab than "Popular," especially when we are trying to use new unique fonts, not the same old fonts everybody always uses. It looks like they are using a layout similar to Canva, but I liked Zazzle's old layout much better! I always find Canva's font tools clunky.

On a side note, am I the only one who can't get the fonts to actually WORK? If I click on the Bold or Italic option, or try to change a font, the design tool becomes unresponsive and then I get that dreaded "Reload or Continue and Try Again" popup.

It’s particularly tough to deal with on an iPad ☹️

I agree 100%. The tool simply isn't workable for me. The box covers up so much of the design area, and it's unintuitive to find all the fonts. I want the old font UX back -- this is such a disuptive curve ball! FYI, there's a discussion in the Technical forum if people want to provide feedback to Zazzle there.

Thanks for your feedback. This was also flagged in the tech forum here, which we're now reviewing.

My main complaint is constantly having to click that > arrow 5 times to scroll to the right to get to "All Fonts".  I feel like "All Fonts" should be first in line. We don't always know the name of the exact font we're looking for or what category it would be in. And constantly having to click to get back to "All Fonts" is very annoying.

A tip. If you put A in the box then you can scroll through all the fonts. No need to be tabbing across all the time. 👍

Thank you, James!

I like the new design. Especially the favourites 👍

@James

I do NOT like this new Font layout at all.  Don't know why or whoever at Zazzle thought it was a good idea or better to change it to this new layout.

P.S. We already had a Favorites area for years in the old Font format when you clicked on Font, then the first heading listed was Favorites (with all your starred fonts listed), Recently Used, All Fonts...

I DREAD opening the Font list now!  Scroll up and down, and across at the top.  Awful.  Too much for the eyes this new look.

There was not anything wrong with the way the Font layout had been for years. and it was much nicer and easier on the eyes, and easier to navigate with the drop-down list as it was!

Please bring back the way it was before.

@James Why putting resources into fixing something not broken when there are stuff broken, like grouping products, that could use this manpower instead?

I use my Samsung tablet and Samsung smartphone both with stylus pens.  So it's the same as on the PC this New Font Layout is terrible!  I do NOT like it at all.

There was nothing wrong with the old Font layout!  Please bring it back.

Thanks for moving "All Fonts"!  Much better!

Thanks for Listening Z team. A fast turn-around for a "fix" - much better with ALL fonts at beginning of the line.

Agreed, especially working on an iPad, it's super tedious now.

It was gone for a bit, but now the new font choice box is back - with a vengeance. It definitely needs to go back as it was, this does not work at all!
Endless searching for fonts and then the text gets overlaid so that you can't see what the result is ... 😡

A simple work-around is to temporarily move the text box field all the way to the left of the design area, so that when the intrusive text box is opened on the right side, you can still see a real-time example of how the font choices look in the design. Once the font is chosen, simply move the text box field back into place. Sure it's a few extra steps but it's the only way I've found that works.

I saw this for the first time today, and it's definitely more cumbersome than it needs to be. As others have said, it's a bit too wide and covers the design we need to see while choosing a font. Horizontal scroll embedded inside a vertical scroll does not work well, especially with no horizontal scroll bar.

I like the Bold and Italic options being prominent and the collapsing of different weights and variants into one entry.

I'm not sure the search function is worth the space it takes up. If I happen to already know a font's meaningless name, I can find it quicker alphabetically, or I've already added it to my favorites list.

I finally got it today too. It's way too big. I'm even on a big Mac desktop and it still takes over part of the design. I'm fine with the tool itself and it's functionality. Just please don't let it take over the design area.

The new font tool is very difficult for me to use. Also, some fonts seem to be missing.

I appreciate the Bold and Italic.  However, this font tool is atrocious.  It's huge and covers the design area so we have no idea what it looks like.  Was there a rational reason to fix what was NOT broken?  Was there a rational reason to make the font tool to be cumbersome, difficult and thisclose to being unusable?

Whimsywhim,  I totally agree with you.  I am always changing what fonts I use and so go to the font chart A LOT.  But now, it is so frustrating because, as you noted, the font chart extends over onto my design so that I cannot see what a particular font looks like on my design.  I thought I would be able to take my cursor and drag it to the side but no, it does not budge.  And if I close it out then I have to AGAIN wade through that "dongle" page and get to the "all fonts" page that I want.  The other way was no problem--"fixing it" created the problem.  I am hoping that it gets changed back to how it was.   It was so unnecessary.

It's inexplicable how this got out of the testing phase.  You can't see what you're doing at all.  It takes 4 times longer to design anything because of this horrible new font tool.

I would like it to stop defaulting to dongle when you start a new design. Any other font please or at least allow us to set a favorite start up font

Screenshot of my experience trying to design a tall photo card on Desktop PC. The font menu all but obliterates the design behind it and any view of font changes I was trying to test. In too many instances you simply can't see what you are doing. At all.
