More than one store, same products but modified

Hi. I have a shop that concentrates on dog themed products/ dog niche. I was thinking of starting another shop with a lot of the same products that I've made already, but taking out the dog aspect. Is that allowed? Is that a bad idea? OR taking a breed/ breeds, for example, and building a second shop around that? Which would then be niching down even more. Thanks for any guidance. @MY Doggy Paws

@mydoggypaws imho just add them to your store you have now and create new categories.

Having loads of different stores is a lot more work (keeping zrank constant etc) but you can create the same products (different artwork/different niche/new title/tags/description etc)

Just create new products with new artwork and post for sale.

You can use collections for your different breeds etc

But at the end of the day, the choice is yours

(I have lots of different stores and it's a pain in the a$$) 🤣😂

I really appreciate that. Thank you! I guess for now, I should concentrate on this store, and maybe add another if/ when I ever get a sale. I'm trying.  But I will just stay positive, motivated,  and KNOW it will come in time. Thanks again:) Mydoggypaws

Perfectly legit both in terms of Zazzle policies and product placement. If you have e.g. a dog, a cat, and a generic store and create a pillow photo template usable for all 3 stores, it makes sense to duplicate the design 3 times, adjust description, tags, and sample picture, and publish it in all 3 stores separately with fitting previews.

Regarding the dilemma of generic vs niche stores, both solutions come with pros and cons. If you look at my petsdreamlands store, I don't have only pets but also wildlife content, simply due to the fact that some animals can be both, especially if you look at horses, rabbits/bunnies, but also wolves/wolf hounds. I made a poll on FB about keeping my page related to primarily cats and dogs or adding also other animals and the all-animals won by approx 2/3.

One last thought about derivatives: if you are in the dog niche, you know that people tend to prefer products depicting their own breed. It makes sense to offer specific designs, e.g. Holiday greetings in different variants with different dog breeds. If the Doberman lover likes a specific card depicting e.g. a winter scene with shepherds, he/she will probably not buy it but will look for a Dobie alternative instead. If you offer the same card with a Doberman, too, you will get the sale. Win-Win.

Thank you! That's great advice. I appreciate it. I'm going to stick to this store and build it up with many choices, and go from there. Eventually, I will start selling!

My pleasure. Do it, and don't despair if the sales don't appear magically, it takes some time in the beginning. A good help is to have a few friends or followers buy something in the early stage. The sales let you gain visibility in the marketplace which will lead to more sales. And the more you have, the more your products will rank higher. Good luck!
