I’m curious - are you (or other Zazzlers) making money on Benable?

Not super fast.. but I'm up to almost $30... Payout starts at $80... I'm not a crazy prolific poster though. I'm not on there everyday making a new list. I have 45 so far.

All of my Zazzle stuff has the Beneble link turned off - I want my whole self referral.. I am not sure how effective that has been, though I suppose I could figure it out.

I signed up for an Amazon affiliate program and it was dismal... few clicks, no completed sales. I burned through the 3 month intro without meeting their requirement of a certain number of sales and though it said you can reapply, I'm not going to waste my time with that anymore..

Most of my referrals there have come through Target, so that's where I think I'll concentrate on the most, though I have been posting things from REI, Lowes and a few other stores, as well as liberally sprinkling my own Zazzle links in lists. I do think that mixed lists do much better in the Benable algorithm than all Z product lists do. They appear to frown a bit upon lists that really do seem to just be a laundry list of stuff to buy from a single site. They also seem happier if you post lists that are not all just products - putting in restaurant and travel recommendations seems to help too to get all of your lists into people's feeds.

Wow!  You've done 45 lists.  That's a lot of work you've done. I'm curious, how many of them have the "optimized label?"  I only have 5 lists so far.  They all just have the "near optimized" label.  I only made a little over $5 so far.

My experience has been like PenguinPower's. I've averaged about $10/month, but none for Zazzle or Amazon sales. I'd recommend trying it. If your lists are optimized, your recommendations are indexed and can be found, so if nothing else, it is additional exposure of your Zazzle products.

I've just started with Benable a couple of days ago and today made two sales. I'm not getting too excited about it yet because I think everyone who just gets started will get the chance to earn a few dollars. However, I have a problem with a list that includes mostly Zazzle product. All the other lists received the "Near optimized" label but the Zazzle list keeps getting the "Near optimized," label after I make changes, but shortly after the label disappears again.

I've created and added to lists rather sporadically, but the sales I've made have all been with Amazon, so I suspect it depends on where our focus lies. I see an awful lot of cosmetics, and I keep wondering if it's lucrative for all those list makers. Doesn't matter. I know little to nothing about cosmetics but quite a bit about anti-itch potions, none of which work. If I did a list for that, it would have only a single recommendation.

Oops. Went slightly off subjects.

I registered at first when it was available. I've not seen improvings on my Zazzle store sales until now...

I'm not interested in anything else from Benable... I'm a Designer/Creator.

I didn't know there was a wait-list.  I got accepted without it.  Here is my invite code if anyone needs one:

I joined.  Absolutely clueless what I'm supposed to do or how you earn money.  It wants me to say what kind of makeup I like.  Not seeing how this benefits Zazzle designers.

On Benable, you make lists of recommendations for products, places, services, etc. When someone makes a purchase from one of your links on your list, you can earn a commission. It's an affiliate marketing platform. Some Zazzle designers list their Zazzle products in lists on Benable. It's another way to get eyes on your products.
You can find videos online with helpful reviews and demos about how to use Benable. They have a FAQ section that answers lots of common questions.

i joined recently and it seems like it's designed to keep you on the site for as long as possible kowtowing to the mighty algorithm. i've had a "near optimized" list for close to 2 weeks and nothing i add or change affects the status. i even had a list that was "near optimized" for a few minutes, then it suddenly wasn't and despite adding content it remains unoptimized.

i think it's just arbitrary. all the help sections are deliberately vague; they tell you what to do but not how to do it. like a mobile game that keeps your grinding endlessly for the gear you need.

@KaptainBlasfemy

You have to have something like 15 items in a list (not sure about the number, but it's something like that), and then your overall description of the list plus the descriptions for each item need to contain something--short or long--that describes the item. I find that making those things personal, indicating you're well familiar with them, helps enormously to get quickly optimized. I've been able to do it at times in just minutes, which says to me there's an algorithm looking for specific related words and phrases.

Regarding: "I even had a list that was "near optimized" for a few minutes, then it suddenly wasn't and despite adding content it remains unoptimized."

The same thing happened to me several times, with a list that listed only Zazzle product. I finally deleted the list and created lists that didn't contain any Zazzle product and all of them got the  "near optimized" right away.  I added just a few Zazzle products to some of them afterwards and it didn't change the status.  I also got two sales amounting to a little over $5.

However, no matter what I do, I can't get any of them "optimized," even though I looked at Benable's suggestions and revised them accordingly.  I only have 5 lists right now and maybe Benable wants people to create a lot of them before deciding on giving any of them the "optimized" label.  I have attached an invite, if you care to look at my list.  If you give me an invite, I will look at yours.

here's the advice i got from customer service:

Add more detail on personal experience: Try to include specific information about your personal experience or expertise related to each recommendation!

Change up your notes: Ensuring each note is unique will improve the overall quality of the list!

Add at least three sections with at least three recommendations in each section!

In your recommendation notes, add details about your personal experience with each one (for example, when you reach for this item or any tips personal to you!)

Make sure your section descriptions are detailed and use creative section titles!

I've read those recommendation also.  However, I did the best I can with my lists.  If that isn't good enough for them, then let it be. There are better and easy ways to make a few Penny's.

Unbelievable!  Bored out of my mind, I decided to create another list with 15 items, and right after I published it, it got the "Optimized" label.  No idea what I did different or better.

that would support my theory that it's arbitrary. i have doubts as to whether the algorithm can  distinguish "personal experience" from padding or even gibberish.

@WBartworks how many images of each item do you have on your magic list? i have 3 "near optimized" lists where each item has 2 or 3 images.

Follow and I'll follow back

I have at least 15 in each list.  If I have sections in a list, I have at least 3 in each section. I think if you have less than 3 in a section, your list won't get the "Optimized," batch.

one of my lists just became "optimized." i was padding the length of item descriptions.

In my never-ending quest to please his highness Al Gorithm, I've learned a few things that everyone should know.

  1. list status isn't updated in real-time. it can take 10 minutes for your most recent change to affect your list. I made the mistake of changing a bunch of item descriptions then when the list lost it's "near optimized" label I had to go back and figure out every change I made and undo all of them one at a time.
  2. Al is super hung-up on sentence structure and syntax. I changed "like me!" to "like I am!" and a few minutes later the "near optimized" label was gone. I had to change it back and wait to restore the status.
  3. List titles are factored into the "optimization."

Bah and humbug! Benable is currently down, and here I was, all set to complete a list I began yesterday.
