Order of tags

Is it important to order the TAGS in order of importance? So, most important keywords first, and less important last in the tags.

I’ve recently seen someone saying that tags should be in a particular order. I read the Zazzle guidance and it didn’t say anything about this. Please can someone clarify?

(I’m not talking about the title or description.)

It is hard to say,  I have heard mods say that for Z internal search it makes no difference but remember that we are also found by outside search engines and it might make a difference with them.  so...  it can't hurt to try to put your most important tags first.   hope that helps.

I think we all just naturally put the most important tags first because they're the ones we think of first.

been meanin' to ask that question myself for some time.
apparently, order does matter (so to the backend I go to do some more housekeeping).

Thanks. I think that article is about titles (which I know order is important). But tags?

E.g. I’m also an Etsy seller. Word order is important in the title. But tag order on Etsy is not important. So I was surprised someone said it for Zazzle. So I’m here tp find out 🙂

Yes, I think keyword is synonymous with tag.

Wait. Word order in our TITLES is important?

It's a good question. And I've heard both answers for it, yes and no. It would be great to get an official take on this.

Mainly because if I do a series of similar designs, I might only swap out one or two tags, as all the others would be relevant to the whole series. But I normally just delete the first tag, and write the new one to replace it - which adds it to the end, rather than the beginning.

It's mainly a workflow thing. I just grab the previous design, copy and paste its tags, and then switch out the differences. But it does mean only the first product in the series gets its "main" tag first. All the others, it necessarily comes last.

So yeah, it would be nice to know this for sure. Not a big deal - my workflow would just need to drop the copied tags into a text doc, amend the beginning tag(s), and then re-copy and paste.

per @Scott in this post, the order doesn't matter.

Great to know for the Zazzle search but I still like to try to have the most relevant first for the outside search engines.

Suggestion from our SEO team is to focus on tag quality and not on tag ordering.

speaking of which, is it possible to get the old sticky from the old forum concerning tag spam back up on this new forum?

Can someone elaborate on word order in titles?  I assume it means putting most relevant tags first...but how do you decide?  Is "abstract" or "pink" more relevant to a design?

I think it's more important that a title make sense. I have played around with different orders in titles and have found no difference over the years. The most important is that they are relevant.

Iif I had an abstract pink design I would use those two first, maybe even as one tag...

I've heard over the years that order is taken into consideration. Although in practice I haven't noticed that making a difference. But when creating tags we do naturally think of the most important ones first so I feel like they tend to end up that way anyway.
