Profile Photo Instead of the Store Logo in the Marketplace

I don't know if it's just me, but I really dislike the new update in the marketplace with the Creator's profile picture next to the product's store name, instead of a store logo.

I have several stores and each of them has unique theme & logo. Having a nice logo is important, since it gives a store some sort of a "vibe" and makes it seem attractive/trendy. And now, it's all gone and the only thing customer sees is my face under the item.

I understand the "real people behind the designs" approach but replacing store's logo with one's photo in the marketplace puts pressure on me, as a designer and now I kinda feel like the sales I make are dependent on the image I choose to represent me, as a Creator. Also, now I'd have to find and choose an image/photo that would be considered "good looking" by current standards and also would combine well with several different store names.

With that being said, I feel like the "personal approach" went a bit too personal this time. I don't know, maybe it's just me though.

Agreed. So many customers already think that I also make and ship the items, and can adjust their spelling mistakes and make other changes after they order.

Until it's even more clear that we are TEMPLATE designers  (this is how I sign off all my chat messages in attempts to clarify things), and NOT the producers or "order processors", adding our own photos seems to further confuse that idea, and probably fighting any progress that's been made on the tech side with customer service messages and links within the messenger system.

Ultimately I will trust their R&D and A/B tests, but beg for clearer distinction on what the various store names/profiles ACTUALLY mean – and a more direct, obvious and consistent way to divert messages that we cannot help with so customers that need full Zazzle customer service can get to that quickly. And to US quickly with questions about what we CAN/ (or optionally want to) help with 🙂

A number of us opted to keep our faces out of it for various reasons. For some it's privacy, for others it's that they're old and age isn't much revered anymore, and for still more it's branding. A face isn't a brand unless you're Betty Crocker or Colonel Sanders. I opted out because of all three reasons.

Hi @Missstacey

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I will flag this with our Team 📝

Maybe that explains why my sales are going down drastically, because I choose not to have a photo of myself posted. If that is true I think it's pretty scummy of zazzle to do this.

I've checked my stores several times and I'm not sure I understand what's being explained but it's usually me misunderstanding. I'm wondering if this is a BETA text and we all aren't seeing this. I use Brave browser but also checked on Safari and Vivaldi without seeing what I think I'm supposed to. SHRUG

Scroll down (and even further down) to your description for the product. That's where you'll see your logo design or photo.

If I view my own product and scroll down to the description, I see my store avatar/logo on the left below the description and store name next to it. I don't see my profile photo showing anywhere there.

It's in the marketplace results, when you search for the specific item type, like a mug or a t-shirt, the Creator's photo is displayed next to the store name.

Got it. The only time I see what you describe is if a product is displayed as the cover photo for a specific MUG (product) style such as Photo, Funny, etc. I see the white dot and when I hover over that is shows the product and profile pic. Is that it?

I don't like it either.  I'm female, but one of my stores has a man's name, so my photo next to items from that store looks silly, even though it's heavily photoshopped to disguise how I look.

For personal reasons I don't want my photo all over the internet.

It must be A/B testing or something, because I see my logo under my products in the marketplace, as well as those of the other designers.

Can someone remind me...did Z indicate they were going to give preferential treatment in the MP (like cover photos now) to those designers who used a picture of themselves (or a stock photo as some use) in their profile photo???  I forget if it was just a suggestion, or if there were market implications involved.
