Replace Product question

A user in the Instant Downloads conversation brought up a topic that veered away from digital, so I'm moving it into its own conversation. This is to allow digital conversation to stay focused while still allowing us to have the conversation.

The first half of the post can be found here, and the rest of the post is below.

Replace Product: I've been waiting for this new feature so I can fix the backside of my many cards in the backend that still look like this with huge text (as mentioned above) so I have to keep them hidden for now! Like maybe some other's, my backside text was originally Locked by me, so only I can unlock it and fix it via Replace Product. I know many other's are still asking in the forums when can we ALL get this "Replace Product" tool in our stores (to fix that backside huge font size glitch problem, or tweek text anywhere on cards to be more appealing maybe, or fix a typo, or to add template boxes where there are none and should have been to make it easier for the customers, or to click on a photo they inserted and click the Force photo replacement by customer...). It would be so helpful to have this Replace Product tool! 🙂

Sadly, unless or until I am given the "Replace Product" tool in my store I cannot offer many of my cards for sale for Digital Download or Regular Print the way they are now, mostly due to the backside problem, as mentioned above. And having this new tool would also come in handy to also tweak some other older product items, even Posters with text...not sure if that was part of the Replace Product tool yet or any other products added to the feature, by those who had access to it.

Is it possible for our stores to get this "Replace Product" feature soon, so we can start utilizing it? Still hoping we can 🙂

Thank you!

Replace Product has been available for quite a while.

Go to EDIT.  After you make the changes to your product hit DONE.  Then you should note under the same place you would normally say "SELL" is the option "REPLACE PRODUCT."

They say it could take up to 5 days for the process, but I have noticed they are often completed in a day or so.
Audrey

Not everyone has access to the replace product tool, at this time. 🙂

Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately as of now, my store and many other's still do NOT have the Replace Product feature. We edit, click done, and still only the sell button listed there. I check now and then to see if Replace Product has come to my store, but still no. I know other's have had it for several months now.

So when hopefully, can the rest of us get this Replace Product feature? Sure would help to use it for my Digital Downloads too now! ‌‌🙂‌‌

I'm sorry, I was not aware of that 😞   It's a really incredible option I hope it is released soon for all.  Audrey

Mods can you please FIX my above post to not have all that white space before and after. Sorry but I keep having problems trying to type on this new forum. Using my Samsung phone. And tried with Samsung tablet. Keeps freezing and text jumping around and takes long just to post. And really miss the old forums and the ability to not be timed out to edit message, or delete message to start over. 😞 Cannot post here like used to.  Thanks

You can delete that post if you want.

Is there some way to delete a post on this forum? I've never been able to find that option.

How can you delete a post?

Edit: I am trying to delete this post and I see no way to do it.

I also do Postcrossing!

@AudreyJeanne
Maybe Replace Product is available for some, but I do not have it as of yet.
@Scott
Why is it taking months for the rest of us to have this tool?

Here it is July 5,23 almost 6 months from my last post, and I still don't have the replace product tool.

There are many who are in the same paused position, just waiting...

The Replace Product feature is slowly being rolled out. I'll ask around to find out where things stand with this. I do know that it was paused around the holidays so that the team could focus on reviewing customer orders.

You can edit or delete a post for the first 60 minutes. After that the post it kept as-is to assist with readability. Back on the old forums we had users who would go back and edit their post, which was damaging to conversation. If you (everyone) didn't notice this then I guess that's a good thing.

Finally, I'd suggest that everyone start using the Preview tool that's in the top right corner of the text input field. When you type in your response just look to the top right of the text box and you'll see the Preview button. If you click the button it'll show you your post exactly how it'll appear once you submit. This should help you proofread a bit better, and avoid needing to submit multiple edits for a two-sentence response.

what if we want to edit with better quality image? or resize the image, base on customer review, let's say the image is not good for larger size products. becuase we have no idea back then. although it was sold for smaller size product, now we want to sell it for better quality and larger size resolution... etc... you know... we want this modification... hate to delete a trending product just for the resize after several years.

Scott is there an update when it will be completely rolled out to everyone?  I agree, I definitely could use this tool to optimize many products in my stores!

Would be nice for everyone to be on the same playing field. Hopefully, will not be too long before all creators have access to this feature.

Really looking forward to having replace design option, there are quite a few products I would like to tidy up, esp early ones, but I don’t want to create a new product when I have shared the links externally in a lot of places.

It is so frustrating to not have access to the Replace a product option. I have literally, dozens (perhaps hundreds) of products that I created years ago that are crying out to be helped. For instance, I have a steampunk wedding invitation in my wedding store that's had hundreds of views - but no sales - because the layout and typography is all wrong. I created it back in the day when I really didn't know what I was doing. I'm itching to get in there and fix it up but without being able to Replace it, if I recreate it I'll lose all those views. 😭

Yes, yes, exactly!

The replace-product feature may not help with those older products you're referring to. It sounds as if you may have to bite the bullet and remake those products. We can change sizing issues, bad positioning, fonts, blatant errors, and I believe (though I haven't tried) we can replace an image with a better version. One thing we can't do is add templates where they didn't exist before. I know this because I tried. I ended up remaking those products, grumbling the whole time.

"I ended up remaking those products, grumbling the whole time."

I could feel it in this sentence. Not fun for sure.

I'll add my voice to this thread. I do not have the replace button, but as I'm in the process of revising a lot of my older work, also created when I didn't understand the process (especially with templates), it would be great if the moderators would roll this out to everyone WITH all the options to make changes fully compatible with all the products. As I have revised several products over the past couple weeks, I've noticed it adds a secondary item for sale, although I "thought" I was modifying it as the listing tools provides the option for "MODIFY DESIGN" and to me, that indicates you can make changes!!

I suppose that I'll go back to those older designs and add a link to the newly revised design at the beginning of the description area in hopes I can move traffic over successfully until Zazzle offers its creators more options.

Agreed, and the same happened to me, thought I was able to Modify the design but ended up creating new ones but didn't want to lose the stats on them.

Still no update since January and we're all awaiting the complete roll-out!

The wheels of change turn slowly at Zazzle unless it's something that ends up completely mucking things up right before the weekend or a holiday. 😂

yep, lol

I have had the option and thought it was a wonderful addition. I tried it out on on of my products and at the end of "modifying" the design I only get the button to post for sale.  There is no button to click that would save the modifications and update the current product (which is what a lot of us really need and have been asking for).  If I wanted to just recreate the product and repost I would just go through that process.  But we want to modify and update existing products while keeping views, sales, etc... still intact.

agreed.

This seems like a great tool.  I have items that I made early on where I forgot to drag the text field larger than the sample text.  And, then when people click on the text and add their own, if the characters are larger than the sample text, their text just goes to a different line.  I'm going to try the update item on those.  I'm just worried that by removing them from the marketplace temporarily for a fix, if they will then be ranked lower?  Anyone have experience with decreased sales from using the update feature?

Barbara

Try it with the least of the products first, the one with the fewest views or sales. I'm not sure if the item is actually removed from the marketplace simply because way back when they were testing the feature, they mistakenly and quite randomly set one of my products to being under review for replacement and it remained that way for months. However, during that period, it sold.

Colorwash's Home

The product is not taken out of the marketplace or removed from your shop. The product does not lose any stats or ranking. The product remains the same in your shop, until Zazzle approves the changes.

If Zazzle does not approve the changes, the product still remains the same, in your shop and in the marketplace, basically nothing changes with the product.

If the product stays the same or changes, you will not lose any stats or ranking.

I still cannot see the replace option available on my products/store. I've asked for that, hoping I can use it soon. I've hidden few products that needs to be fixed. Still waiting. All the best. Osea

I don't have it either.  And here we are halfway to the holidays and still waiting.  What a wonderful advantage it's been for those who had it since last year giving them all this time to fix their catalog while others are still being held back.

I've resigned myself to recreating all the products with errors (mostly template issues) that I designed WAY before I stopped to really understand the platform. I'm archiving the old products into a hidden category so I have the stats, but I do worry that returning customers won't be able to find the revised product. I think I read somewhere that the "replace it" button would not allow template corrections, so if that is accurate, it wouldn't help my situation. BUT, that being said, I hope Zazzle hears the desire of its creators to rethink affording this to everyone, and maybe consider a full redo option for anyone who, after the fact, thinks of a better design that would attract more customers. After all, it would be a win-win for both the creators and Zazzle (IMO).

Allowing such a complete redo is unlikely to be in the cards. It could easily lead to unethical people gaming the system.

Hey all,

I've sent these to be reviewed now so hopefully you all will have access to the replace feature shortly.

-Fiona

That's awesome news, thanks Fiona!
Will the Replace Tool going to be found under More Options dropdown from the Listing Tools?

You'll find the Replace option only when you open a product for editing, edit it, then click "Done." You'll see the Replace button and will click it. From there, you'll see a message about the product going through the review process.
