Should You Pull Valentine’s Day Early? My Spring Store Setup Strategy

Tonight I was looking over my store and debating whether I should pull Valentine’s Day and replace it with St. Patrick’s Day, spring décor, and Easter. For a minute I thought, “Maybe it’s time to switch everything over.” But then I went through my earnings history and realized I was still getting Valentine’s Day sales well into the first week of February  especially cards and digital downloads. That was my reminder not to pull Valentine’s Day too early.

So instead of removing it, I kept Valentine’s featured and added Spring and Easter alongside it. It feels like a good balance right now, especially since shoppers are in all different stages  some finishing Valentine’s, some already decorating for spring, and some planning Easter or baby/bridal showers.

I also refreshed my about and store banner tonight. I pulled the Valentine’s Day header and replaced it with a new “Spring Arrivals  Nature Inspired Designs” banner on my main store. Keeping the banner seasonal really helps the whole store feel fresh and active, and it signals to shoppers that new designs are coming in.

I’m curious how the rest of you handle this. Do you arrange your store according to the seasons and holidays, and have you noticed a difference in your sales/traffic  when you do? And do you update your banner for seasons / holidays so your storefront looks fresh and new for shoppers?

*** I just started updating all of my stores for the Spring season, including my media and storefront visuals. With all the snow we’ve had this week, it actually feels good to feature the spring products at my Zazzle store  a little reminder that warmer days are coming, hopefully soon!

I’m not as experienced as you are with my store, and I have to say, it’s very difficult for me to know what collections and designs to highlight at this moment and where to put the most of my efforts. Valentine’s Day is closed to Mardi Gras, then UK Mother’s Day with St Patrick and Easter arrives soon after…

Spring is kinda hard because there’s so much happening at once  Valentine’s Day, Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter all rolled into one season. What’s worked for me is keeping Valentine’s visible a little longer while slowly weaving in Spring, St. Patrick’s, and Easter so shoppers at different stages can all find what they need. People browse on their own timelines, and having a mix seems to catch more of them. Updating my about, store tags, banner, and media manager visuals helps my shop feel updated instead of stuck in winter mode, especially with all the snow and extreme wind chills lately. Having a spring store makes me feel ‘warm.’ It really does get easier once you experiment a bit and see what your customers respond to. (see that in latest views) You’re not alone in trying to sort it all out.

Yes, thank you for your personal experience feedback. It helps. The very first years I didn’t;t have these problems because I had not created so many products and especially not for covering all these different occasions. Now that I have more of them, I have to think more about scheduling, timing , promotion … ( and not forget evergreen products that I often sell more at this time of the year ) New interesting challenges! 😊

I agree  the more products we create, the more things there are to keep track of… seasons, holidays, trends… it all starts stacking up. It’s a good problem to have, but it definitely adds new layers with scheduling, timing, and figuring out what to promote when. And you’re so right about evergreen designs  they tend to surprise me with steady sales this time of year too.  I don’t know about you but I’m still selling Christmas, and my last product view even showed interest in Halloween. It really is a new set of challenges, but it also means your store is growing and giving shoppers more to choose from
