Zazzle Creators Union

After the recent changes and the ongoing uncertainty regarding earnings going forward... to me It really highlights that Zazzle creators need a union. This is to have some representative to at least negotiate with Zazzle directly and to increase transparency in decision making. At present creators don't really have anyone to vouch for them when significant changes are made to directly impact creators. A union could be a positive thing for both Zazzle and creators. Any representative would need to be completely independent of Zazzle to avoid conflicts of interest. Just a thought anyway..

Fair enough. Zazzle has been great. An amazing place. They are far from a small business. There were some indications they were trying to go public (sell at least some of the company to the public). I don’t believe that would happen until there earnings pick up to increase the sale value of the company in the IPO. Hence these changes potentially may increase there earnings to help increase their value when floating the company ..  As an “independent contractor” we have minimal control. Ideally I think creators should be at least be consulted with before changes are put in place… rather than after it’s a done deal. That doesn’t require a union/collective etc but It would be nice to have some consultation period prior when there are big changes that potentially reduce your contractor income going forward. Anyway good luck also. Im sure Zazzle will continue to be a great marketplace.

Zazzle designers are independent contractors, not employees.

Yes that's correct. Contractors can still do similar and achieve the same result

That would be a guild.

I so want to make a gaming joke right now. But I won't. 😏

Z is a private company and I think they are plenty transparent as much as they need to be for a private company / small business. If they weren't transparent I would not have spent the better part of 15 years here.  It is common for big changes to happen and a website with lots of moving parts and lots of confusion does take place in transition but someone from Z always comes into the forum to try to explain and answer questions. This latest change is no exception.

I wish you all continued success... no union needed 🙂

I’ve been in Zazzle 17 years and I’m devastated by what’s been happening with all these changes😢.  Maybe because I am approaching 73 years old in a few months 🤔 I don’t like change!  But maybe something major is going on with Zazzle, I just wish they would let us know what it is!!!    Regards, Shan 👵
