It would be extremely helpful if we could edit existing tags without having to delete them and repost them in the tags box. For example, if I transfer a wedding invitation design to a birthday party invitation, and my first tag is "beach wedding," it would be AWESOME if I could just change the tag to "beach birthday party", without deleting the old tag and typing in the new one. this would preserve the correct order. As it stands now, if we want to change the first tag, and keep it as the first tag, we have to delete ALL the tags and relist them, otherwise that first tag when deleted and changed, will become the last tag.

What I do when I want most of the same tags.

Click on VIEW ALL TAGS AS TEXT; copy the list [ctrl-c] ; REMOVE ALL TAGS; paste [ctrl-v] ; change the first tag.

NOTE: you can add an existing tag at the beginning, it will be stripped as a duplicate. If you add a new tag at the beginning and you have the tag limit already, the last tag will be removed. Still, there is very little re-typing to do.

Why does it matter what order the tags are in?

@Connie I do as @BKMuir notes, but I add my new tag/s then paste in the old ones.  That makes the new tag appear first.  I wish there was a better way, but retyping 10 tags when I simply transfer a design is frustrating...

@CatWe have been told that the order of tags does not matter by Z.  But I have found that the similar products listed below the product changes based on what my first tag is.  So it seems to me that I want the most relevant tag/s listed first, second.  When I do that, the similar products listed more closely reflect my design.  If I listed a color or color theme first, then the similar products may not be all that similar to the product I've posted.  Since the Z algorithm works this way for similar products, it would seem reasonable to think it works the same with MP searches.  Although we know that our store search does not behave like the MP search, so who knows...  Just sharing my observations and thoughts.

I do the whole product template and description management in Word. Easy to edit, you can simply copy and paste and change the content as needed for new products, and when you're done and all looks fine you copy and paste the entries in the forms. Easy to manage and if you lose the product for whatever reason, you still have all text content. When it comes to tags, I simply edit them in Word, then delete them all in the form and copy and paste the new list (all together in one step).

For SEO it is (was?) suggested, to change word combinations and order to avoid duplicates. Not sure if this still matters for search engines and no idea how Zazzle handles the tags, but I think it's not a bad idea to diversify a little bit.

Hi @PacifierCity  do you have a link to where Z said the order of tags matters, please? I'd love to have a read of that. (Unless it was on the old forums, in which case, I guess it has gone.)

Looks like I've got a metric tonne of work to do, then, assuming you're right, as I tend to work on sets of products for faster workflow, and invariably (apart from the 1st design in a set) my main tags normally end up in 9th or 10th place for the vast majority of my products. Yikes!

I do the same as @Fiorenzo except I use Microsoft's One Note so I don't have to have a bunch of separate files to open & keep track of.  With One Note you create "Notebooks" (top level directories basically), then each Notebook has Sections, each Section has Pages, and each Page can have whatever type of content you want to add. And you can drag & drop your content anywhere on the page so you're not limited to typical line/paragraph spacing.

I use it daily for many different things but for Zazzle, if provides me one central place for the stuff I frequently want to copy & paste, without having to open multiple browser tabs or multiple files to collect & copy the URLs or other data I want. Handy not just when in Zazzle but also when creating pins or other social media shares and also for the infrequent occasions I play around with same designs on my other POD accounts.

For tags, I just edit the "master list" I have saved for each design to fit whatever new product I'm adding. If editing existing product tags, I copy all, paste in to One Note, edit/re-arrange as desired, copy, delete all from product, paste, done. It would be spectacularly most awesome if Zazzle gave us 10 independent text entry fields on the tag section that we could also drag & drop to rearrange order, but until then, need to take matters into our own hands to make it more workable. 😉

@FiorenzoYes, I use Word also. And I do as others said above, and View/ Copy the tags, change the one I want, then replace the whole set with the new set. But it would save a step if we could just directly edit the tag we want to.

@ColsCreationsI'm going to have to check that out! I have a ton of Word files, one for each design set. As far as Zazzle giving us 10 independent text fields for tags, it would be great for rearranging existing tags, but not so much for adding new tags when first posting, because then, instead of copying and pasting all 10 tags in at once, we'd have to do each one separately. Unless there was some way of pasting over the 10 fields at once.

@Connie
You're right. I hadn't thought about that. You wouldn't be able to copy & paste them all at once that way which would be even more of a pain. I guess we want the best of both worlds - to be able to copy/paste/delete all at once but also to be able to edit and re-order individually. Makes one realize what a difficult job the Z techs have trying to devise a happy medium for everything.

@Connie @ColsCreations

As a "lazy" designer and developer, 10 separate fields would be a nightmare to handle. Not only do you have to enter the fields individually, which means more work for the user, you would also have to add some sort of manual ordering functionality if the order of tags matters.

I personally would add an "EDIT" button and when clicked I would list all the tags in one text field, where you can edit and rearrange them at will. Separated by spaces and using quotes for combos, as it is now. Easiest way both for user and developer.
