For the love of all things holy - what is going on with UPS?!  I bought something for my auntie - it shipped on June 19 - and it still has not been delivered to her (of course it missed her bday).  The package has been in her destination city since June 23 - yet has still not been delivered. 😠

I bet USPS would love Z's business!  It's much more reliable than UPS these days.

In speaking with various people in different parts of the country, how good or bad a shipper is likely depends on the shipper in that area. Here, UPS and the USPS are very good, but FedEx is deplorable. Other places, the mix is different. It used to be that many sites gave you a choice so that in my area, for instance, we were able to avoid FedEx, but I haven't seen such a choice in a long time.

All this is to say that your problem is with the local UPS.

Near as I can tell - the issue seems to be some weird hybrid of UPS and USPS together - called Mail Innovations. 🙄  Didn't work for me.  I mean, really.  Whose brainchild was that?!  Let's take 2 behemoths - each with their own problems - and mix them together! Oy.

FedEx has been doing the same thing for several years. When it's a small item, the sort the post office often handles, it works better than when FedEx handles it from beginning to end. Watching all this for a while and also talking now and then with drivers, it appears that online ordering has exploded faster than companies can expand to meet the need. Our postman told me they've begun calling themselves an Amazon affiliate. However, understanding what's going on doesn't mean that we, the customers, are satisfied with the service.

You make an excellent point. I hadn't considered the variable of how much online ordering has increased over the past decade.  It's clearly stressing the systems.
