It may be close to impossible, but the ability to adjust transparency on a layer in the design tool would be a game changer. A girl can dream. 🙂

Since we don't have the ability to turn text into a template after the fact without republishing, it'll have to remain as is. I learned all those little tricks plus lots we can't use here from my years running a video effects business. I'm just happy they finally implemented masking, which can be a powerhouse.

@Barbara You can make changes and replace the product now. To be sure this works also on newly added template fields I made a quick test adding a dummy text template on an existing product and I got the "Replace Product" button. Little detail, anyway, no need to change running systems.

@Fiorenzo, yes, you can go through the process of replacement, but my experience is that adding a template ends up being rejected. Others have found the same. Where I've succeeded has only been where positioning has been altered.

@Barbara Oh, I see. Good to know. I knew you were not supposed to make major changes but didn't expect adding template fields would be an issue. I only replaced one so far, which had old fonts on it that are now no longer available. At the same time, I made slight changes to the template texts, too. No problem with that one. But anyway, I forgot to mention that I didn't mean republishing/changing with editing, just enabling the editing option so people can use the designer.

I just did a search and spotted one person mentioning he had been able to turn text into a template but not add a new template, so you may be correct about this. As far as I know, Zazzle never gave full instructions, probably because not everyone has the ability.
