I'm sure that this request must have been brought up in the old Zazzle forums, but it bears repeating here:

For designs with multiple layers, please enable the default/initial placement of a new layer below the currently selected layer.

This would also be more intuitive than having the new layer as the very top one -- for both customer and creator.

Thank you

Hmm, this does not affect me at all, I just swap around whenever I need to using the layers area... I don't really mind taking the time, for me, I enjoy the process of creating however long it takes. (but then, I am retired LOL )

?? Not sure why this would be more intuitive. Every design program I can recall using defaults to new layers going on the top.

Can you clarify why this would be more intuitive?

@Scott So let's say a customer wanted to add an image of their own halfway down in a 12-layer design in the design tool.

If that image is introduced to the design (the way it is right now), it would currently be the topmost layer, effectively hiding the other 12 layers (text and graphical elements). This forces customers to either grab and drag the layer down past the first 6 layers, or hit the backward button 6 times.

To me, it makes more sense to first select the existing layer where a customer might want to add that image, and then add that image. No need to go through the process of dragging or clicking afterwards. It also streamlines the efficiency of placement.

It would be great to be able to decide where the new layer would go!
