Since zazzle suggests quality over quatity, would it be beneficial to show 1 item when a products is grouped by color???  This way customers don't get as overwhelmed searching through all the products to find the one design they like.  Leading to frustration and going to shop somewhere else.  It would also allow more space for shop owners & less frustration in marketing their products.  To alert customers of multiple color options for a product, a small "multiple color choices" banner or flag could be displayed where this option is available.  Rather than just 3 little dots that only designers see.  Any thoughts or opinions???

I believe you are wrong about this - everyone sees the 3 dots (if they wait long enough).

Also ... I remember a discussion about all colors in a color group are not found now and ordering Green when you land on Red may get bindings and other trims mis-matched.

Grouping is OK, but definitely needs tweaking for better results.

In the marketplace you see the color dots on the product like in the screen shot below.

On the product page the dots are on the right side for the customer to see where the personalization is set .

The three little gray dots are in the store management area for the creator which means the customer doesn't see that.

I believe that OP is referring more to how products are display in our stores when viewed by a potential customer.  I just went to the OP's store and found that each product is shown that has different color options.  So while the colored dots do appear in the Marketplace, they do not appear to a customer that has found their way to our stores.  If you made 10 or 15 different color varieties, the customer sees each of those products, instead of one with color dots below it, beside it, whatever.

It would be a great improvement to our stores.  One of the things I forgot to mention in the survey I just took is that it would be great if Zazzle invested more into our individual stores.  That way we could drive traffic to our stores and know that the customer is having a great experience there.  The color ways improvement described by the OP would be a great improvement to our stores functionality.  Improving "in store" search would be another.

I second the request to make the color ways dots work in our stores.

JB's quote “So while the colored dots do appear in the Marketplace, they do not appear to a customer that has found their way to our stores.  If you made 10 or 15 different color varieties, the customer sees each of those products, instead of one with color dots below it, beside it, whatever.”

Aha, I see what you mean @PacifierCity. Yes, that would make sense.

I wonder what percentage of customers visit our store after finding a product of ours that they plan to purchase.

@PAZPIn the years that I have been here, I feel like I have been lead to believe that it is a small number of customers that visit our stores.  This, I believe, is due to the fact that most marketing efforts lead to a single product or to a "themed search" for a seasonal or event item/s.

I would think that the highest level designers might actually drive traffic to their stores.  My observation of Zazzles advertising/marketing efforts tend to be as described above.  I would like to drive more traffic to my store and am thrilled that the QRCode attribution takes one to my storefront.  If one sells cards, they should put some effort into their storefront as it is likely that the store will see more traffic.  Hence wanting to see our stores be more of a destination and have things like search work well and the colorways function working as it does in the MP.

I tried out hiding all of the products in a group except 1.  The hope was even though they were hidden but yet grouped, that the one viewed in the public marketplace would still show all color choices.  Sadly, and as I expected, that was not the case.  Only the one from the group not hidden was viewable.  Yes I did wait, because as we know changes o n the backend do not always happen immediately.  It was worth a try though.

Thanks Pacifier City for clarifying.  The following would be some of the benefits.

...Easier store upkeep

...More organized feel

...Easier for customers to view

...More products viewed with 1 link

...Less storage space required of zazzle per store

...Share more products (yours, others, zazzles) with 1 link

...Easier to market your store products as well as other stores products on your web pages.

...Less yo sort through when a theme is searched in zazzle.  ex. Cute Puppies, or Floral Bags, or Lace Wedding Cards.
