Using animated pictures for the post thumbnails makes them difficult to browse. It'd be great if they could all be static images.

Motion sickness means that to check the news, I have to only glance for a few seconds at a time, because the constantly moving images make me sick. I know I'm more sensitive to that than most, but imagine what it'll look like if several posts in a row have an animation all doing different things. It's a bit like walking into one of those optical illusion rooms that's designed to make people dizzy.

I agree - I never understood this recent web design trend of everything in motion all the time. Even for people without motion sickness, it takes extra mental effort to filter out the extraneous stuff. It's definitely an accessibility issue. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

May I ask what is meant by "post thumbnails" and where do I see them? I thought I'd been all over the new community exploring but haven't seen anything moving yet so i've missed something.

@ColsCreations Pretty sure they address the three large animated gifs on the homepage ("We Have A New Community!" etc) which also show up on the right side of a post.

@Scott  I agree, they're distracting, and if there is too much different animation going on simultaneously on a page, this can lead to motion sickness even if you don't suffer it. I have no such issues but I feel uncomfortable with the three animated gifs on the main page and animated gifs on the right while reading a post. I personally would prefer static images.
