I have a number of products that have sold digitally, but no print versions have been sold. When I look at the stats for those products, it shows that the total number of sales is zero. Same thing with products that do have physical sales - the tally never gets incremented to include the digital sales. I'm guessing this is due to the fact that the download sale is handled as a transfer, so the sale doesn't get tallied to the original product.
This is problematic for several reasons. First and foremost, it makes it impossible to track which products have sold digitally without downloading the royalty history and doing a lot of data massaging. I'm also wondering how this impacts the Zazzle search algorithm. If those sales are not counted toward that product, it's possible to have a situation where you have a product that's very successful in terms of digital sales, but it never gets "credit" in terms of the algorithm - and could even get hidden as "needing optimization" even though it's sold multiple times digitally. This seems particularly problematic for products that are designed specifically with digital in mind.
I've spot checked half a dozen digital sales, but here are a few links to products that have only sold digitally - yet the stats say zero sales:

Gold Frills Elegant Cassis Purple Magenta Wedding Invitation | Zazzle
I'm hoping there are plans in the works to address this issue.

OK, Hold the phone! Someone just clued me in via PM (thanks, someone) that there's a digital stats section! Who knew? I certainly didn't. Well, in case I'm the only idiot out there who is apparently screen blind and missed it, if you look at the statistics panel at the top of the products page (the one that I never look at and generally just automatically collapse because it feels like it's just in the way) there's a choice between printed stats and digital stats. Doh!
So, I guess I'd like to revise my whine to say that it would be SUPER helpful if those digital stats could be included in the quick stats section on the individual product page - which is where I tend to go looking for stats. Thanks!!
