I am in the Promoter 2 program. I was checking a few of my pins on Pinterest this morning and noticed that some extra code is being appended to the outbound link to Zazzle. It looks like this (all one line) - this is right after the product code in the link:
?epik=dj0yJnU9S0pwYWg0LXhXREppRVBhcFZMeFMyQXhxc0dsMDJrSm0mcD0wJm49cERpU0V2RDVRRzBycms1RFRoaDM0QSZ0PUFBQUFBR2NHbmQ4
This is happening with manual pins and pins via the Zazzle pin-it button. Is this affecting referrals? I am wondering because I have not had any referrals since 9/1/2024. I checked an old pin of mine and the extra code is not appended.
Please advise. Thank you.

That epik parameter has existed for some time. I can see it on my most recent pin (July 2024) and a random older one (Dec 2022). I remember trying to figure out what Pinterest uses it for before and it's a tracking code Pinterest adds for their own use:::
The 'epik' query string helps in tracking user sessions and interactions with pinned content. It aids Pinterest in monitoring user engagement, understanding content virality, and providing insights into user behavior on the platform.
My layman's understanding - which could be wrong - is that that parameter means nothing to Zazzle, it's something set by Pinterest that only their own internal analytics will understand. Facebook does similar with adding a 'fbclid' parameter. I don't see how either would effect Zazzle referrals. If you are sharing a URL that includes your RF ID, you can still see it in the URL before the parameters Pinterest/FB add so Zazzle can still "see" it and use it. If you're sharing a "clean' link as a Promoter, same thing - I think those parameters Pinterest/FB add would just be gibberish to Zazzle, it's not going to effect them "seeing" whether you included your RF ID or not in the link.

Thanks. Is that a quote from Pinterest that you have indented? My understanding of a Promoter 2 link is that nothing else can be added. Hopefully, Zazzle will weigh in here.
