There is already a thread for vintage art (Seeking New Designs made from Vintage Art), this one is for really old art, historical paintings and drawings, art history stuff.
This is also a thread were you can show off your digital restoration work. I know that many of us do a lot of editing to optimize an old artwork for printing.
For example, with this sweet 19th century Madonna painting there was (among other things) an awful lot of cleaning...!
"La Natividad" oil on canvas by José Campeche y Jordán ca. 1799. Campeche was the most significant painter of portraits and religious imagery in late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Puerto Rico. He is widely considered by art critics to be one of the best rococo artists in the Americas.
Does 80-some years old count as really old?
This garden flag from a vintage poster designed by John Wagner for the Work Projects Administration (WPA), published in 1940.
The original was blue. I made three color versions (grouped on product page) - enhanced blue, green, and multi-color. You can change the backgrounds and borders to any colors you like, which combined with the image filters you can use on the main image plus a front and back side you can do differently, means infinite color possibilties to suit any taste.
