Can't retrieve messages unless I convert to email login?

I have received messages that I can't access because when I click on the link, it goes to a page that says I "can" convert to email login. It also give a checkbox option to "not now, I'll do it later". But when I click on that 'not now' box it just sends me back to my account page. 

I don't want to switch to email login, but it appears now I have no choice?

@Artellus if the message in your email is from 'zazzle support' (or any version featuring the name zazzle) more likely it's a spam/scam via the messaging system and that the message has already been deleted which could be why it's sending you to your account page.

So by the time you get to your chat inbox on Zazzle - the message has been auto-deleted but email notifications are still being sent out.

I wish Zazzle could implement a rule that if a spam/scam message is auto deleted before we see it - then no emails are sent out saying 'you have a message on Zazzle'

I've had that happen before, and I know there are a lot of scams being reported right now - but even if they're scam messages that have been removed, I still apparently can't even get into my message page without it asking me to convert to an email log-in instead of username, which I didn't want to do - unless that's something Zazzle is now requiring?
