Gah! OK, I reported this last night, then thought it was fixed, and now realize it wasn't. Sorry for the extra post.
I created a collection using the new product back end - I selected multiple products, then chose add to collection. When the popup came up, I typed in a new collection name into the space at the bottom. It created the collection, but it never asked me if I wanted to make it visible in my store. So, I had a collection that somehow wasn't in my store or something? Well anyhow, if I went to my collections tab it wasn't there, BUT, if I opened the add to collection popup from the action menu, and then chose the "Your Collections" link at the top of the popup, it would open the collections page with that collection visible. That allowed me to edit the collection and add it to my store.
I'm totally confused about this - are there collections that aren't connected to your store? I only have one store. Anyhow, I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's by design, but it's certainly different from how it worked before. I would love to have the old functionality back because having to go through that crazy extra step to add it to my store will get annoying pretty fast. Thanks!
p.s. Using Windows 10/Edge

I haven't yet created a new collection under recently - I hope that the choose store option does not remain as difficult as you suggest.
There is a section for collections under your PROFILE (all collections for all stores), then there is a a section for collections under each store.
There does not seem to be a sorting selection in either location (newest, alphabetical, by store) that would help you find a collection not set to a specific store. I would think that the new collection would be the first collection under your profile. Clicking the blue edit button at the bottom of the collection Icon will allow you to choose the store/s to place collection in.

Thank you! So, some collections are attached to the store, and others are just attached to my account, now I get it! That explains where that collection was hiding out when I couldn't find it! I hope the old functionality comes back, but if it doesn't at least I know how to deal with it now. Thanks for enlightening me! 🙂

Thanks so much! At least I now know that you can have collections which aren't attached to your store! 🙂
