So I entered "tray" in the MP search and on the options bar was a tab for fabric.zazzle tray fabric.JPG

This happens because the search is not just for product type but also titles and tags. Start filtering for fabric types and you'll see what I mean. In some the design of the shirt has somebody holding a tray (and "holding a tray" is a tag. In others there was a transfer of the design from a serving tray or trinket tray to a shirt and "tray" from the original title didn't get removed by the designer. In still others, the shirt is meant for some sort of trainer which is in the title but the title is so long that it got cut off and says something like "Very Best Personal Judo Expert Tra" and that "Tra" (sometimes "Trai") gets misinterpreted as being intended to be "Tray".

Refine By Category fixes this for the customer.

This may sound like undesirable algorithm behavior but it's actually very desirable. It means that, for example, our Christmas cards that feature ornaments or candles can be found despite the fact that Zazzle also sells ornaments and candles. It also lets the person who made a chef shirt with a chef holding a tray of food have tags that say exactly that and the customer looking for an image of a chef holding a tray of food can find it by filtering down to shirts instead of being stymied by having only actual trays showing.
