Issue with Font Replacement on Color Grouped Products

So, I've noticed a problem with the font replacement on products that are color grouped. Here's an example:

https://www.zazzle.com/teal_roses_elegant_boho_wedding_thank_you_mini_wine_label-256344755571328116

If you open the original product (in any color) the font substitution looks fine. However, if you change to a different color, it goes all wonky. In the different colors it shows the new Mogana font, but with the old Blooming Elegant characters, so you end up with garbage. color-group-font-switch-issue.png

I think it's just a preview issue though, because if you enter the design tool on one of the wonky colors, it corrects the problem, and then if you click "done" the correction holds for all of the colors.

I'm hoping this is just a transitional problem and that it will correct itself once the process is complete. But I thought I'd post it just in case tech is not aware.

Hi Cat, I decided to test this out. I'm on Chrome browser, I went to the red version after getting to your page of the teal product. The same issue happened with the swashes on the word "thank you". I did try to go into the design edit window but it did not reset the swashes for me. I also tried to go back to the original teal and the swashes were still messed up. I just wanted to add that because you were having the swashes reset and look fine again but that did not happen with me and it may not reset for customers.

Eee Gads! Thank you for testing that! I'm using Edge, but I tried it in Chrome and was able to get it to reset once entering the design tool. I'm not sure what that means. Seems to imply it's not a browser issue per se - maybe it has to do with some sort of change that hasn't fully propagated across the web yet? Well, in any case, it's not exactly filling me with a warm fuzzy feeling. Hoping it will get fully sorted out soon!

I tried on the teal version, just changing the words "thank you" to "cheers", and the same thing happened to the tails. I'm using Firefox, so I think it's an issue across the board. I also figured that by using a shorter word, I wouldn't run into any potential issues with the text bounding boxes, but apparently that's not what is causing the problem either.

Yikes! I just tried it and the same thing happened to me. The other thing that's weird is that when you go to personalize the template you can't see the little rectangle for the special character at the end of the word. If you copy the whole text field you can see that they've added two trailing spaces. If you delete those trailing spaces the little special character rectangle reappears.

I have no idea what any of this means. I can only hope that they haven't yet completed their "AutoMagic" transition and that these issues will sort themselves out. If not, I guess I'll just have to fix it all manually and replace the products... assuming that will fix this problem. Kinda feeling yucky about all this at the moment. 😫😪😱😰😭😡

  • At least you can fix it… some - half? of us cannot even access the replace design function yet… At the moment all we can do is hope things don’t get too messed up. And Z staff appears to be AWOL from the board- no doubt putting out fires caused by this font switching..

Well that sucks, and it seems totally unfair. Of course, I'm still trying to fix all of the designs that got broken when they changed the way they rendered ASCII symbol characters (the hearts and diamonds and other symbols that come with each font suddenly got HUGE and totally messed up hundreds of my designs.)

I guess I'd better do it quickly before they take away my ability to submit revisions again!

I'm using Waterfox and it did the same thing. The same issue happened with the swashes, they did exactly what your picture shows and messed up when I tried to change the color or change the text. I could never get it corrected, so I left it the way it was. I did try to move the text to fit better, but when I tried to use the replace product tool, it just reverted back to the original design and would not accept my changes, so I gave up for awhile, hid the product for now, until I decide what to do next.

Oy! I sure hope they can get it sorted out. I'm gonna give it some time before I start trying to fix things because it seems clear to me that it's all very much still in flux. Heavy sigh.

It should not be too hard to put back in Blooming Elegant? I really don't see why Zazzle does not do that, it is by far the most easy solution.
