Media Manager artwork download low quality

SBS

Anyone else noticed that the new Media Manager artwork download option is much lower quality than before? I used to be able to download really sharp images, but now they are blurry and pixelated.

@SBS I've noticed that it's very low quality.

If I go to resize - it says it's 96 dpi. I always upload 300 dpi.

Feel I've been robbed of 204 dpi's

Personaly I don't have this issue and my images are still as sharp as before (I checked to be sure when I saw this post). But I do have other issues with the image manager on mobile, currently looking if someone already posted about it.

@SBS @Sara_H   Correct me if I am wrong but the "artwork download" feature is not there to download your originally uploaded artwork, it is there to be able to create a custom mockup/cover image for the web/product page. 96dpi at 2048x2048px are more than sufficient to accomplish this. The images are clear and sharp on my end.

@J32Design I was modeling a pouf and had a grump on me but the texture is pixelated pixelated stripe

which means more work recreating original artwork for my mockups

edited to add - grump  over - redid artwork - onto the next cover photo

Here you can see the difference. I understand that it's not for downloading the artwork, but how could I make high quality looking, 1500x1500 mockups with images blurry like this? It's even a bigger problem on invitations with small text, where it's very noticeable when zoomed in on the product page.

If I go to resize - it says it's 96 dpi. I always upload 300 dpi.

Firstly, to eliminate confusion:

  • DPI - dots per inch. This is used by your computer monitor
  • PPI - pixels per inch. This is used by printers

These two are sometimes used interchangeably, especially when dealing with images used for print. Wanted to define these now to eliminate confusion.

DPI/PPI are a measurement of density, which (mostly) only matters if you're sending a file to print. What you should be interested in is pixel count. We provide an image of approx 2000x2000px, which should be more than sufficient for most Creator-facing applications. 96dpi is a common monitor resolution, which probably explains why we're using that level of density. When you import this image into a photo editor you can easily change the density.

On the other hand, if the downloaded file is not of the same quality as the submitted image then we'd have an issue. @SBS can you elaborate on what you're seeing? What's the Product ID for that image?

I'm not complaining about DPI, I don't really care about that. My issue is that since the new download method, the artwork I get is not as sharp as it was before. It's not just the submitted image, but the text I made in the Design tool too. I stopped dealing with mockups because of this, so I don't have many examples. These are some that I can compare, because I still have the previously downloaded image:

Here's another example, comparing Artwork downloaded Feb 7 to same Artwork downloaded today, June 14.

Comparison #1
Artwork downloaded Feb 7 = 2048 x 1767, 5.90MB
Artwork downloaded June 14 = 2048 x 2048, 4.49MB

Comparison #2
Artwork downloaded Feb 7 = 2048 x 1767, 5.82MB
Artwork downloaded June 14 = 2048 x 2048, 4.39MB

I took the screenshots of both images at 100% scale, side-by-side. Reduced the captures some for the forum but the links are to the full-sized images where you can clearly see that the downloads from today have lost their sharpness and texture.

I have just noticed the same issue - the artwork images are being downloaded now in much lower quality and this causes now issues for me creating mockups for cover images. 😞

My images still are not sharp like the actual image. Any suggestions Scott?

File is too large apparently to upload here. I replied to the email that notified me of your reply, with the side by side view. Do you have access to those emails?

Hi Scott. I'm having the same issue. Here is a link. See, for example, PILLOWS, PLAYING CARDS, and YOGA MAT category covers (Public Storefront view).
