I decided to upgrade existing keychains by adding a template field. I spent hours modifying and republishing. Just now realized that none of the template fields saved. So now I have hundreds of keychains with a name on them that is not a template field! Is there a fix or is this days of wasted work and now unsellable items?

You don't have the design tool locked out, so customers technically can change the name, it's just not as easy as when it's templated... You can go through and change them again to make the field a template, but no, there isn't a shortcut.

Thanks, I did make the field a template when modifying. So it's some sort of error with modifying the design that doesn't actually let me save it as a template.

It's not clear if you are talking about editing an existing design and then publishing it as a new separate design/product, or if you mean you used the "Replace" option to tweak an existing design/product.
But I looked at your links above, one was created in 2010 and the other in 2011. So they can't be new products, which leads me to believe you were using the "Replace" option. From what I have read from others here in the forums, you can't use "Replace" to change existing text to template text, or to add new template text.

Sorry, I meant revision and replace. I was unaware that the rule was not to add new template text. Darn, I wish I had known that before devoting 2 days of time to this process. And here I thought adding a template field would be a smart upgrade!

Nope, no can do. I initially tried to do that for some luggage tags I made when I 1st started out & didn't know what I was doing & they never stuck.

I don't have the 'Replace' option yet 😔, but when you do get it, where do you see the button?

Thanks for showing me. I was hoping I just hadn't seen the button! It can't be long now 😉

I have Replace, and the truth is it's been of little use. I think I used it once to tweak the size of something. After that, I simply remade the products. I think a great many of us would make huge use of Replace for text templates alone, but I'll bet Zazzle never extended it to all designers because they realized they'd be beleaguered by piles of products to review.
