Products moved to new category and modified are reverting back to old category / old modified dates

I’m reorganizing a store and am moving products around to new categories and simultaneously changing some tags.  They’re moving to the new categories fast — the way they did in the olden days(!) — and showing up with today’s modified date as they should.  However, one by one they’re reverting back to the original categories and pre-move modified dates as if no changes were made.

Please look into this and fix!

@Zorindait helps the Tech Team if you can provide links to the products that are misbehaving so they can investigate.

Problem is ongoing -- items changed prior to May 26 are reverting back to prior Department.  I'm not re-organizing; doing the obvious thing of choosing the lower MF Department where Products are selling just as well as the higher MF Department.
