"Upload Images" button not working

The "Upload Images" button in my Images has suddenly stopped working. It glows blue when I hover over it, but (unlike with the "Create album" button, which still works) my cursor doesn't turn into a hand, and nothing happens when I click on it. I had been using it all day and it just stopped. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is it a technical glitch, or have I reached a limit on the number of images allowed?

Upload images is not working for me. I have a mac Big Sur, v 11.6.8. The upload button doesnt do anything. When I try to drag and drop images into the upload area, it also does not work, instead it will open one of the images in another tab for me to view... So both options are not working for me.
