Blank email images in Zazzle email when using Windows Live Mail?

My work computer uses Windows 7 and thus Windows Live Mail. Some time ago (several years), any email from Zazzle has those empty boxes with an 'x'. I'm assuming they're using code that's not read by an older OS. Consequently, I usually can't tell what the email is even about because, apparently, the information is built right into the images. I've seen the same problem with a specific company on my husband's computer which also uses Win7. This says to me it's a combo of the company's coding and the older OS.

Do any of you using Win7 have this problem too? If you've been able solve it, could you explain how?

@Barbara  Not a Win 7 user but is there a setting in Live Mail for image blocking?  Though you do have to be very careful nowadays if you do disable it. (menu/options/safety options/security/ uncheck box "Block images and other external content in HTML email" apply/ok)

They could be blocked as they have tracking cookies or other code built into the image (you never know) and you do have to be very careful if you do decide to disable image blocking.

You could try using a new email client ? (Mozilla Thunderbird, Outlook Express)  Or maybe view your emails from a browser? That may help?

I can't see Z recoding their emails /image formats but you never know!

Sara, I've tried absolutely everything, turning off all safety measures, including my virus checker. It's mainly just Zazzle. For a while, Amazon purchase confirmations came through with almost entirely HTML code, but it must have been for more than just my husband and me because, though it took a few months, they fixed it. Everything else is fine. This is why I firmly believe it's in the coding.

I did try Thunderbird and absolutely hated it. As for Outlook Express, it was discontinued quite a long time ago, which is a shame because I loved it. I tried a client that claimed to be a clone, but it behaved badly.

I have a gmail address but I find it unwieldy.

At least the problem is basically only with Zazzle and mainly with their ads, which rely on text within the pictures, so I've no idea what's on sale. My sold notifications come through without pictures, but at least the name of the product is visible.

None of this is truly a game changer. Just an annoyance.

But thanks for giving it a try.

@Barbara

I don't use an email client and just check through my browser. Pictures come through fine from Zazzle emails (but they are full of code if you hover over them so that may be your Win7 is tripping up - it just doesn't like the code or is seeing it as a threat)

Don't even start me on Z annoyances  (off topic alert incoming)

The fact that the store front departments are listed alphabetically

but the back end are not.

(back on topic resumed)

I'm sure there must be an third party email client that you could try that might behave on Win7

Quick google https://windowsreport.com/email-client-software-windows-7/

I hope it becomes less of an annoyance for you

After I replied here, I went on a search and found a supposedly good alternative to Outlook Express and that works on Win7. Did I bookmark it? No. I got distracted and will now have to redo the search. I annoy myself daily.

I just recently made the leap from Win 7 to a new computer and Win 11 -- it is worth the pain to make the transition.  Just a thought.

Hi @Barbara I also use win 7 and have gmail & yahoo mail. Though not always but yes sometimes I do find Zazzle promotional mails with images as empty boxes with cross, same as you said ... but I used to think that's because of slow internet that images fail to load properly, so didn't bother much

@VivianD117

I can't afford a whole new desktop at this point, not with the kind of equipment and software I use that would likely also have to be upgraded. I have Win10 on my laptop, but the laptop's purpose isn't for internet or mail, and thinking about it, if version 11 grew out of version 10, I'd probably be miserable with it. I think it probably all depends on how we use a computer and what we use it for.

@Wesha

What I've finally concluded is that it's rarely more than Zazzle mail that comes through without pics, so what am I fussing about? My private mail works perfectly along with pics received and sent, and confirmation email for purchases always has the important things in regular text, so maybe I'll just wait until my computer gives up the ghost. I'll either be able to afford a new computer then or I'll retire and grow a garden.
