@ivanher So you can add any tracking code you like at the end of a referral link: &tc=yourtrackingcode
But a customer may come in on that link that you created and "tied" to a single product, but they buy a different product. You will still earn a referral but the unique identifier you tied to a single product is now found on a product sale that you did not mean for it to be tied to. Does that make sense?
You can see your tracking code successes in your referral earnings page under the product that was sold via your referral link.
Tracking codes work much better when one is trying to understand where their referrals are coming from. One would add an identifier for say ... Pinterest, a blog, FB, etc... And then when that identifier shows up in your referral sales report you know that marketing at ...FB... worked. Then maybe you put a little more effort into that avenue of marketing.
Maybe someone else has some different perspective, but identifying a location and maybe the date a link created seems to be the best use of a tracking code.

What @PacifierCity said but also, you don't need to do this because if you make a referral, your Referral History report shows you exactly what product earned you that referral.
