Can I limit the display of collections to six?

I have seen on other stores that on the home page their collections and categories display only six each.  I do not see a way to make that happen for my store.    How do I limit the number that display?

Unless you have a total of six collections in a store (or make the rest of your collections private), I also have not managed to find a way to limit the number of collections that appear in one's store.

Yet I see in another store they are doing that.  They have dozens of public collections and only six show on the homepage.

As far as collections go, the only way I see that would be happening is perhaps they are unchecking the box to make all of the others visible in the store.  When you open a collection and click edit, there is an option at the very bottom to choose which stores to make them visible in.  Try unchecking the box on all but the 6 collections you want visible. 

For categories, in order to just have 6 categories showing on the homepage you have to have cover photos uploaded for the 6 you want showing (making sure there are items in those categories as well), and delete the cover photos for all categories that you do not want to show. ETA- make sure you go to settings and enable categories to show on the homepage.

I found the solution to my display problem: In Settings one adds zazzle groupings to the home page.  

By placing "Last Products Created" above the Collections, Categories, Products and last products sold, the display is limited to six each.
