Can't click on Sell Product after creating a product featuring my original artwork?

Need some clarification on how one is going to add a new product to sell in their store when the sell it button is not allowed to be clicked on. I am using my own original paintings and artwork, I am the artist, I own the copyright. Yet once I have finished a product design and go to the page to order it or edit it, the sell it button is faded out and if I click it , a window pops up saying I have to own the copyright to use the image. I do own the copyright, it's my own artwork! So what's the work around here? Thanks!

It sounds like you are perhaps either not starting from a blank product- it must be a Zazzle template and not one produced by another store, even if it only has a “your image here” placeholder. The best way to ensure this is to start in your store’s back end by clicking the “create new product” button or you’ve used a Zazzle background and/or icon - those are available to customers only, not designers.

Other reasons that the sell button doesn't appear include:

  • failing to choose an envelope on a card or invitation (you can't list it if you chose "none" though you can change that setting in the post process) - this one always gets me!
  • setting the attribution qr code off on a card - as with the envelopes, you can change this in the publishing process, but the sell button won't appear if this box is checked.
  • using one of the published backgrounds or icons (those are for customer use only)
