Can you print with partial opacity on the acrylic invitations?

I'm very excited about the new acrylic invitations, but I'd like some clarification on one point. If I upload a png file that has partial opacity, will it print with partial opacity, or will the print process translate that into an opaque color?

For example, this invitation has a pink background that's a png file with 50% opacity. I want to know if it will print that way or if it will print as an opaque pink.

Similarly, if you use a gradient that fades from opaque to clear like the following example, will the printing accurately reproduce that like the mockup implies, or will you get unexpected results.

I just want to be sure before I create a bunch of stuff that's gonna look bad when printed. Thanks!

Did you watch the video? When you hold the invitation up to the light - you can see a transparency (ish - i.e the light comes through it sort of)

I think the only way to find out is to order samples and see for yourself

You'll 100% know what's doable.

What about creating a test sheet - with various options in opacity and see which works (eg an acrylic invitation with opacity blocks (5%, 10%, 25%, 50% , 75% etc) then see which opacity % you're happy with?

Also order a sample frosted sheet too to see the effect in real life.

Personally for that one - I'd remove the pink and just have the gorgeous filigree scrolls at the corners and embrace the negative space of the acrylic  - but you could do both 🙂

@Sara_H  Thanks for the thoughts. Yup, clear background was the first one I did, but the pink one was meant to go with the pink & gold suite. It wouldn't be a tragedy if the pink printed opaque - just trying to take advantage of the acrylic medium.

My bigger concern is this one - the shadows around the rose are all done with partial opacity, and if they print opaque it's gonna look like garbage!

I should probably just bite the bullet & order some samples, but I'm just so darned cheap! 😉

but what if you get loads of disappointed brides and cancellations - that won't be good.

Better to be safe than sorry 😘
