Collections but no store?

Every once in a while, I come across a designer who has collections but nothing listed under "stores." When checking one of the person's products, I find no store listed for that product, proving they don't have a store. Is this even possible, and if so, why would they do this?

Seems like an account that just does referrals to me.

If the products were being referred, wouldn't they include the store name of the person who designed the product? They don't have that either.

Could they have the product public but the store private? I seem to remember being able to do that.

That could be it. I'm sure there are reasons for doing this, but I'll be darned if I can think of one. Brain strain going on. LOL

Maybe someone thought they could make all their products disappear from the site by making a store private, but maybe it does not work that way.

Yes, a store that's private doesn't make the products private, not unless the person hides the products too.

It's the little mysteries that always seem to grab me.

@Barbara,

There are some high ranking sellers who, I think, liked to hide their identities, but keep selling their merch in the MP.  It was a way, and might be still a way to hide from those trying to follow those creators, and steal design ideas and recreate their own, which was competing with them.  At least that's what I assume is the reason.  Does that make sense?

Yes, that could be yet another reason to hide a store, though  in the end, potential thieves can easily see what's selling and rip it off. Thieves can be quite determined, working hard at their chosen path.
