Is it OK to show a poster in a frame? To me it's no different than showing any other product in use, such as showing a Wedding Welcome sign on an easel, but could it possibly be confusing to customers who might think they get a framed poster? I don't think people would just tack a plain poster to their wall, do they? (I'm talking about photography/ art posters, not posters that are used as wedding signs.)

After that thread about framed posters= no royalty I would just as soon not give the customers any ideas.

OH WOW! I missed that thread! I guess my posters are going to be tacked on the wall plain, LOL! I certainly don't want them to add a frame and then I won't get anything!

I've been hemming & hawing over the best practices for poster covers too. I see a LOT of wedding posters with covers showing them on easels without frames - and this seems sorta like false advertising to me because it implies that it's sturdy enough to stand up on its own - and I have received several complaints from customers who assumed that the posters were poster boards, so I don't want to go that route. So, I've mostly been showing them directly on a wall, or in a frame on an easel. I do see some that are displayed in glass frames that are obviously not the Zazzle provided frames, so I'm considering something like that. The only cue I can glean from Zazzle is that all of their in situs show them on the wall without a frame. Hmmmmm....

I think Zazzle has foam core (aka foam board), where you can design your wedding posters. That material is sturdy enough to display on easels. I used that product for posters all the time when I was a corporate artist. And the best thing about foam core is that no frames are needed.

I do all of my wedding signs on both foam core boards and standard posters. The foam core boards are great, but they're not available outside of the US, and they're not downloadable (plus, they have an alarmingly high return rate - I get a complaint every week or two about boards arriving damaged.) Anyhow, It seems prudent to offer everything on both products, but the challenge becomes how to differentiate them in the cover photos.
