curious if anyone's ai content sells

This may be pure coincidence, but I have realized that after starting to post ai generated images last year, my sales TANKED across the board
I also have never made a sale of my ai generated designs where the zazzle mandated tag "generativecontent" is used. The post where I asked if it was absolutely mandatory to use that identifier tag has either been deleted or buried...I never received notification that anyone had responded to it.
I know Z says the tag is used to see how ai is performing, but I am starting to suspect that the tag is being suppressed somehow.
I would love for someone to prove me wrong by showing they DO have ai content tagged as such that IS selling regularly

I have an ai owl, a turtle and a lizard which are all tagged generativecontent and all sell. They are on different products too, golf products, backpacks, water bottles, gift wrap. Using the generativecontent tag does bring you down to 9 tags that customers actually use and that's a bummer. But I don't think it's being suppressed.
For what it's worth, my ai designs that sell are in cross sell collections (Father's Day, birthdays, baby showers etc.) that have required products. I think that helps them.

good to know
I really hope this is true, and that these products remain in the marketplace and can be found by customers regardless of whether they use the mandated tag

collections are most definitely something I need to make better use of...
as someone with ADHD and other ND conditions, it is really hard for me to decide where to put my time and energy... plus there is so much incorrect or outdated info out there re the best way to get sales...
if I work on adding new products, it leaves me no time for doing mock ups and collections
if I work on creating pins that need mockups manual text fields and manual links ...
etc etc etc
(this is just how it works in my neurodiverse reality)

I think that like everything else, the devil's in the details. I've used ai images quite successfully, but I generally edit them extensively and cut out the background, using only a portion of the image as one element in a larger design. Of course, I'm in the wedding niche so my customers aren't coming here looking for artwork per se, they're looking for products that use nice artwork to decorate an invitation, sign, program, or whatever. The fact that it's generated by ai is much less important than the quality, content and how it's used.

I edit almost all of the ai images I use as well... it takes a lot of prompting to get the design even created to what I actually envisioned...then I use photoshop and several other software editing programs to refine the image and prepare it for upload.
I have also seen a LOT of absolute ICK ai on various pod platforms.
It just came to my attention that, I guess coincidentally, the decline of my shops started not long after I started using ai instead of canva graphics as my main design content.
I just wish I could find the "real" reason. I add new product, update or delete as instructed (yes, nay-sayers, it is right there in the zrank info page to delete old under-performing products)... I create and share collections, I do everything I can to keep my work high quality and follow all of the zazzle advice on listings and yet my zrank, and sales, continue to drop instead of improve

frustrating

I’m not typically a fan of AI art. I can usually spot it easily - even without the #generativecontent tag. A dead give away, in my opinion, is overly busy artwork that has been rendered with too many colors  and a lack of application of basic design principles.

For this reason, I personally don’t buy AI generated art. I have seen a few YouTubers who create AI artwork that is hard to tell if it was rendered by hand or via AI. One YouTuber who creates really good AI designs is Juna at Detour Shirts. Check out his channel for lots of tips on how to create AI artwork, which AI generator to use, what prompts to use, what’s popular in the AI POD world, and which designs are currently selling.

@Jadendreamer13   I think the key is to generate ai art that doesn't look like it was ai generated!

I have followed Juna on RB for years inc his youtube along with Ryan Hogue and Michael Essany (none of them have Zazzle accts to my knowledge)
just for the record, my ai art is NOTHING LIKE the stuff you are referring to ... much of it is monochrome or text based... I was an artist and designer long before ai came around! I have also been on Zazzle for 18 years.
I know good creations from bad and as stated above, I post edit 90% or more of the ai art I generate. Most of it is visually indistinguishable from the graphics available on Canva Pro etc

I looked at some or your AI art and really love the Whimsical Cat ones.

I would buy these and not care at all that it was AI generated.
Here's the funny thing though. I did buy such designs, not from Z but from Amazon. A set of 50 notecards with 10 different cat designs like this on them. And they turned out fantastic. Color, printing, cardstock weight all excellent.
And I've generated really similar images myself using AI, with cats and other animals, though I haven't used them for anything yet.

So I don't think the problem is that Z is supressing images tagged as "generativecontent" in the MP or that customers are turning up their noses just because something might be AI, I think the issue is that there is just so much of it now it's really difficult to stand out.

thanks for liking the cats, that does make me feel a little better...they are in  shop I have not even worked on or promoted!
the funny thing is, those designs ARE clearly ai and do not reflect the majority of the ai work I have on zazzle using it ...the majority of my ai designs are patterns of various types and vintage stationery paper style designs with a small ai generated image occupying less than a quarter of the page...
I really do wish they would sell...all of them, of all types

They all have Zazzle Accounts. They just hide them.

@TRW I don't know for sure, but I'd be willing to bet that the number of designs in the marketplace has skyrocketed with the advent of ai images. So while it may not be that ai art doesn't sell, the timing of things might not be a total coincidence. If anybody and everybody can easily generate art using ai, the competition is only going to get more and more fierce.

I do not think the problem is the use of ai art itself...I think the problem is the thieves and fake accounts (spammers and scammers) who are either using ai or stealing designs via ai are to blame. So many adding up to 1000 designs a day, every single one of them using identical descriptions (irrelevant to the design) and a jumbled list of completely bogus spam tags
I have been reporting designs and "accounts" but so far none of them have been removed by Zazzle. THAT is something I do not understand. If an account is adding upwards of 500 designs daily, zazzle should easily be able to flag it as spam and block the accounts (no different than hiding merch from shops w low zrank etc) . Sure the offenders can just create a new acct, but it should be an automated blocking tactic that flags content at LEAST once a day instead of ...never! They allow the theft and corrupt accounts but punish real humans trying their best and not being able to meet all of the criteria for constant fresh new content, constant updates, etc

Here's the thread where you asked if the tag usage is mandatory. https://community.zazzle.com/t5/general-zazzle-discussion/how-to-post-and-tag-ai-generated-products-...
