Once a cover photo has been successfully uploaded, does it become the default image, or do I still have to go into the backend, select the cover photo, and save my choice?

According to the .doc linked in this post, https://community.zazzle.com/t5/creator-news/cover-photo-for-all/ba-p/27063, the new cover photo will become the default, though it may take up to 24hrs. (Slide 9).
